@nextlevelbb Amen. The system is perfect for colleges. They collect high leverage arms. Kids who can pitch stay. Kids with extra special potential on velo & spin stay. Everyone else goes. No one tells these 92 mph Kids until they don't make it.

A lot of D1 freshmen pitchers will figure it out. It's not because of velocity. Control Command Secondary Pitches Holding Runners Fielding Position Moxie Feel A lot were sold an illusion and they believed it. They thought if they threw hard enough they could pitch in D1 baseball. Someone forgot to tell them about the other things they would be required to do to get innings. Velocity will get you an opportunity but the other things will get you on the mound in games. Average velocity which is upper 8's combined with plus control, above average command, plus secondary pitch, average third pitch, the ability to hold runners and field position gets the pitcher on the field in games at any school in the country. If he is a competitor with moxie and feel.

@coachzblair10 In years of coaching ... I have seen speed & baseball speed. Two different animals. You can be a great baserunning with average speed, and a terrible baserunner with great speed. It's even more pronounced in the outfield, where speedy guys get terrible jumps and take bad routes

Enough with the 60 yard dash. Not one time will you run 60 yards in a straight line on a baseball field. Run a 30. Run a double. 1st to 3rd. Let's see how you cut a base. Let's measure speed that you can translate to the game.

By my math, Mets are down 30 million in payroll ... net. But when they drop the 900K extra fans this year ... and likely 1.2 if the sell-off continues, they will lose 70-95 million in revenue on tickets and concessions alone. Make it make sense

The #Mets, remarkably, have lost 3 top 15 Fan favorites of all-time in two weeks. They lost their best ever power hitter in his prime after a show me season. They lost the best NL closer. They are down 57 homers and 190 RBIs. They're 14 saves.

Woke up in LA on first morning here on trip. I decided that if I'm wrong about #Mets (dumping all major Salaries, grabbing pics, adding to best farm, and wauting out the lockout and new CBA as I predicted a few days ago ... then what could Cohen & Stearns do to save Mets? 1/

@HowieRose @notgaetti Doc and I are the same age ... so ... yes. FACT CHECK: TRUE. Seaver was the Franchise ... but 84-85 with Hooden represented a NY electricity in baseball not seen by any Met player in my sentient lifetime.

@CoachSwit That's been my mantra since 8u. But in varsity baseball. Throw strikes Manage runners Field your position You win a lot of games.

When players ask what it takes to pitch for us on Varsity. My answer is simple: Throw Strikes. Velocity is great, but you can’t defend a walk. Pitchers who fill the zone give us a chance every time. We’ve been very successful in my 4 years because we prioritize strike throwing.

@HowieRose Baseball is definitely not better when you use 47 pitchers, 30+ of whom were not good enough to make an MLB roster.

Baseball is a better game when the starting pitcher gives the ball to the closer. Unless, of course, he finishes what he starts.

@K1ng0fQueens The Mets magic number is 162! If not eliminated, we all know they are taking us the distance.

I understand Bryce Eldridge will start for the Giants tonight. More bad news for the #Mets. From his Gatorade Press Release. #MetsTwitter #LGM Hoping to see Bryce have success that doesn’t help the Giants.

Generals move to 11-6 with a 2-1 win. Kilpatrick singles, steals 2nd, scampers home on the ensuing throwing error for first run. McDonald speeds home on a wild pitch in 8th to win it. Keane again battles for 7 innings, 3 hits, 10 K's. Thompson throws a perfect 8th for the win.
