This is ridiculous. We can’t have conversations about utterly apolitical, academic topics.
Greg Lukianoff@glukianoff

.@Google's chief scientist and lead for Gemini AI came to UC Berkeley to give a scientific lecture on modern AI research. He wasn’t there to debate Gaza or Google contracts, but protesters disrupted the event anyway, and within 10 minutes, it was shut down.

Honored to receive an honorary degree from Dartmouth this commencement season, but I'm still a little gun shy. Last time I was offered an honorary degree (at USF medical school) the faculty senate torpedoed it, allegedly because we had sued against the Florida Stop Woke Act. Do I think that was the real reason? Nope. But let's see if this one works out!

“When a focus on method replaces a focus on content, we are moving down the road to the science of administering education, rather than cultivating the humane art of teaching.” —Bob Pepperman Taylor (2025)

"What emerges is the divide that haunts colleges and universities to this day: those with a humanist emphasis on literary culture and classical languages on one side of the divide and technical learning on the other side. Then, letting the cat out of the bag, Professor Taylor argues that this divide separates the powerful ruling class and subordinates the laboring class, which one might paraphrase as the separation of the haves from the have-nots." - Daniel Sundahl on Bob Pepperman Taylor's LIBERAL EDUCATION AND DEMOCRACY

"If classical teachers believe that truth, beauty, and goodness can indeed change the world, then the sort of student (and teacher and school) described by @AnthonyEsolen is a net gain for this world. And his Classical Catechism serves as a helpful tool in building the necessary common language that can only strengthen what is already being done." - Sean Hadley on @AnthonyEsolen's Classical Catechism

"In an age when so many of our inherited institutions seem to be unraveling under the pressures of a restless, self-regarding individualism, it is a rare and welcome thing to encounter a book that speaks with quiet conviction about the things that have long sustained the American republic." - Cory Andrews on Tim Goeglein's WHAT REALLY MATTERS @FocusOnTheFamiy

There is no public policy that can increase marriage rates and involved fatherhood in low-income communities. Why? Because marriage and fatherhood are cultural norms forged by the presuppositions of telos and eudaimonia.

On the issues, Americans are not as divided as the "experts" would like us to think. Many thanks to @ubookman for the review of The Polarization Myth. Review available here: kirkcenter.org/reviews/the-co…

Despite [Kirk's] and others’ efforts to prevent further decline in transcendent beliefs, more than a century later, it is clear that those Americans who adhere to them represent a small and frequently marginalized minority. @fhmcclatchey must be counted among their number, for he frequently touches upon transcendent themes. - Camilo Peralta on "Killing Orpheus" in @ubookman

.@JM_Butcher himself admits that there are in fact important divisions within American society, but he believes that “Americans are united on some very important questions that are driving debates in statehouses, schoolhouses, and even your house.” In this, as in nearly all that he has documented in The Polarization Myth, he is undoubtedly correct. - Jeffrey Folks for @ubookman @Heritage
