Street Fighter 6 // Progress Log: The Great Wall of Platinum has Fallen. We're Diamond. It took me 35 hours to climb from Iron to Platinum. It took me another 35 to climb from Platinum to Diamond😭 I was expecting the huge increase in difficulty AND the huge decrease in climbing speed, but god damn it still hit me like a truck LMAO. I actually instantly climbed out of Plat 1 into Plat 2 since I was still mostly fighting Golds and fresh Plats, but the second I hit 15k, I ran into a hard stop. I had felt like I was actually getting better. Then, completely out of nowhere, I got WAY worse. Out of the whole week I was Plat, probably 4 full days were me being completely super-glue hardstuck in the 15k range. The absence of winstreak bonus under 10+ streaks was basically an emergency brake. Combining this with a significant increase to the baseline skill level of players, I basically had to completely scratch my entire playstyle and re-learn the game from scratch. Obviously, people in the lower ranks were just really bad. A large majority of my wins were me figuring out one glaring weakness in my opponents and then just SPAMMING the counter to it, and they just wouldn’t adapt. For example: throw looping 10 times in a row in the corner because they’d default parry, or fireball -> they jump -> dragon punch 10 times in a row. No adaptation. The low hanging fruits that basically didn’t know how to play the game didn’t really exist in Plat, and when I’d face someone that could adapt well? Instant loss. Loss after loss after loss, hours upon hours of grinding and sweating my brains out only to end up 100 ELO lower than I had started. Then, I found the difference maker: Shifting my mentality from single-mindedly tunneling on finding ONE weakness to exploit -> Slowing down, breaking down my opponent, and creating MULTIPLE holes in their game for me to overwhelm them through. Easier said than done, though. In a nutshell? I was a shitty, linear noob. I either had to get better and learn how to play dynamically, or my climb would come to a full stop in Platinum. Now, we’re Diamond. The final stretch is upon us. It’s time to lock in and bring it home. Let’s Fight.

What are some really dumb things about your Smash character that really shouldn't exist? For example Dedede expands his hurtbox when he multi jumps, so if you jump close to the blast zone to reset your momentum after being launched you might kill yourself by accident.
