A bloke who rides a bit. Sometimes big wheels, sometimes little ones. Some long rides, some short.

We have lost our little bat buddy Baz today. Hoom forgot to attach him to the trike and he slipped off while we were riding. We did 10km to look for him but couldn’t find him. Very sad ears.

This week the Guardian's owner, the Scott Trust, gifted the 233-year-old Observer to Tortoise Media. This isn't just a dark day for journalism, it's a sign. Meet the team. This is Putin giving Tortoise's energy advisory board member an 'Order of Friendship' medal in 2017. 1/

It’s bad enough former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been allowed to spout his absolute boll**** about “Brexit saving lives” unchallenged on UK news shows - now he’s traveling the world repeating it! Let’s stop him rewriting history - RT these actual FACTS

@CyclingLegends1 Reynders has the same one hand high on the drops, one hand low that Burton always had, whether riding road or track. Was that weird hand asymmetry commonplace back then? I don’t recall seeing too many (any?) photos of blokes doing the same thing.

Yvonne Reynders of Belgium, seen here in the individual pursuit at the 1967 World Championships in Amsterdam, was the big competition to Britain’s Beryl Burton. If you look down the winners of pursuit and road race world titles from the late 1950s to the middle of the ‘60s, if Burton didn’t win most likely Reynders did. The Belgian, who is from just outside Antwerp, won five road race world titles and three in the pursuit, as well as other medals in the same events. When she was first into sport, Reynders wanted to be a runner like her hero, Fanny Blankers-Koen of the Netherlands. Blankers-Koen won four sprint gold medals at the 1948 summer Olympics, but the athletics coach at Reynders’ school pushed her towards the discus. She won two Belgian junior titles at the discipline, and there was talk of her going to the 1960 Olympics, but Reynders had a need for speed. And not speed inside a small concrete circle, she wanted to fly, and fly outside, so she took up cycling. At first her training was nothing like you’d expect. When Reynders left school her father bought her a coal delivery round in Antwerp. A heavy transporter bike came with it, and every work day Reynders loaded as many ten-kilogram sacks of coal on it as she could, then pedalled around the city streets delivering them. But that wasn’t all she did. Once she finished work, having already ridden her race bike 20 kilometres from home to the coal depot, she would ride the long way home. Sometimes the very long way, and she regularly clocked 200 kilometres in a day. No wonder she was good. Burton too, who amassed many miles of training either side a heavy farm job – the lives of those two make us tired just writing about them. They both had incredible work ethics, and huge respect for each other. 📸Cycling Legends Collection #cycling #cyclinglife #bike #bikelife #cyclingphotos #roadbike #cyclist #ciclismo #bicycle #roadcycling #instacycling #cyclingshots #fitness #cycle #cyclingpics #strava #sport #bikes #bicicleta #ride #instabike #retrocycling #cyclinghistory #cyclinglegends

Please read this. It's literally been 8 years in the writing. The first wave of tech disruption of democracy 2016-2024 is over. What starts now is something much, much worse: the age of information chaos. 1/ theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@CyclingLegends1 When did hand slings start and replace the pad in the shorts sling? I missed the change over. No pun intended.
