I think it’s an opinion on the possible psychological aspects of a fictional character that could help viewers understand that character’s development or future actions. This would include her relationship with her mother.

to this day it bothers me how they never revisited cassie’s abortion in s2. it would’ve been really interesting and impactful to explore how going through that impacts a teenage girl’s psyche, rather than just making her act insane and betray her best friend for no reason.
