One of the most used photoredox reactions in pharma is the deoxygenative cross-coupling using deoxazole ("NHC"), and the industry wide uptake of this diversity generating transformation has just been brilliant to see. This new paper from Johnson & Johnson (by Shane Plunkett and Justin Diccianni), makes the protocol even more general than before. Super cool stuff and def worth a read! Beware of unexpected effect of amine in 1H NMR. You expect your residual standard signal of CHCl3 to be at 7.26 ppm, but it can actually be shifted for 0.5 ppm due to hydrogen bonding with a strong amine.

@sajid_saikia This is probably an example of the phenomenon called "obliteration by incorporation"

Often I see researches cite irrelevant papers for discussions involving Kasha's rule. Those papers are like they have just mentioned the word "Kasha's rule" Sad! isn't it? Give 10 min extra in finding the actual papers I just figured out the actual paper has only 2231 citations

@LabLacy_UB I have some advice which may seem obvious: PRF New Directions grant application? They often appreciate treading uncharted waters if the hypotheses are sound and there’s a bit of preliminary data to support the claims.

Feeling the sting of rejections for our innovative research in a new, untrodden field. Established funding mechanisms often favor the familiar, is their room for the unfamiliar? Any advice or solidarity from fellow researchers navigating similar waters? #AcademicTwitter

Nickel is a highly abundant metal available in major reserves worldwide. It is known for its diverse reactivity, but could it be a candidate for use in olefin metathesis? Find out in our latest article out now in @J_A_C_S! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
