For those of you that don’t know, poor Alex Belfield has been recalled back to prison. He’s now been back in HMP Nottingham for 5 weeks and is awaiting a parole hearing. His crime? There was no crime. He had been recalled for words he MIGHT say and is a 0.16% risk to the public. I have spoken with Alex weekly and he is in good spirits. He has written book no 7 and has made a start on book 8 🤣🤣 He has more rights and less restrictions in prison than he had outside on probation!! Make it make sense!!! Alex Belfield, a former BBC Radio Leeds presenter and YouTube personality known as “The Voice of Reason,” was imprisoned for stalking.  In August 2022, after a five-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, a jury convicted him on four counts of stalking involving four victims (out of eight charges). He was sentenced on 16 September 2022 to a total of 5 years and 26 weeks (five and a half years) in prison.  Details of the Convictions The convictions covered acts committed between 2012 and 2021: • Stalking involving serious alarm or distress (two counts): • Bernie Keith (BBC Radio Northampton presenter, formerly a friend). • Ben Hewis (videographer). • Simple stalking (two counts): • Jeremy Vine (BBC Radio 2 and Channel 5 broadcaster). • Philip Dehany (theatre blogger).  Belfield’s methods included: • Posting highly abusive YouTube videos with false allegations. • Bombarding victims with social media messages, emails, and other online harassment. • Encouraging his followers to target the victims. The judge described it as “weaponising the internet” and a “vicious and continued campaign of abuse” driven by personal grudges rather than legitimate journalism or public interest. Victims reported significant psychological impact, with one describing Belfield’s output as “like swimming in sewage.” He was also called “the Jimmy Savile of trolling” during proceedings.  He received indefinite restraining orders preventing contact with the victims (and additional individuals he was acquitted of stalking but whom the judge said he had targeted in a campaign of revenge). Sentence and Release Belfield was ordered to serve up to half the sentence in custody, with the remainder on licence. He was released in June 2025 after serving about 2 years and 9 months. However, as of March 2026, he has been recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions (specific details of the breach were not publicly disclosed by the Prison and Probation Service).  Belfield has maintained that the case was a “BBC and police witch-hunt,” framing himself as an anti-BBC journalist targeted for his criticism of the corporation. The court rejected this, emphasizing the personal and harassing nature of his conduct. This is based on court outcomes, sentencing remarks, and contemporaneous reporting from the trial and sentencing.
