If you can only "rent" media via streaming, it's not that bad. But subscription is another thing.

Subscription on a streaming platform is another thing. It means you pay for a centerized authority a fixed number of money, expecting it to provide services that maintains it's quality. But even it gives you a little worse services next month, you feel inconvenient to cancle the subscription. Now the cycle continues endlessly, month after month. It's not fair for the creators, too. Let's use the music industry as an example, only 4% of the income comes from streaming platforms. Musicians have to make such a terrible income via a rigged recommendation algorithms but not the real freemarket.
