This week, the Kansas Legislature will consider the App Store Accountability Act on both the House and Senate floors. This commonsense legislation ensures that app stores verify age and obtain parental consent before minors download apps; restoring parental authority and adding meaningful safeguards in today’s digital age. For too long, Big Tech has operated without adequate accountability while children face increasing online risks. Kansas families deserve stronger protections and clear standards that prioritize the safety and well-being of minors. We encourage legislators to stand with parents and vote YES on the App Store Accountability Act. Stay tuned for updates as this bill moves through the process.

Sen. WHITEHOUSE: We finally are moving to file a bipartisan Section 230 repeal bill. Waiting any longer serves no useful purpose.

For everyone parroting the Apple “we don’t want to give our IDs/birth certificates to Apple” talking point, here’s just a taste of what it says it already collects. Please note that this doesn’t include all of the data it collected from Siri for over a decade w/o users’ consent that consumers’ sued Apple over. So, if Apple is telling folks that it needs more data to comply with ASAA, then it is likely signaling that it plans to maliciously comply with the law to collect more data than it needs, plain and simple. It doesn’t need more data, Apple, of course, is hiding behind a faux privacy argument to scare you into letting it continue to hurt your children. That goes double for Google.
