5. Original colour-wash, varnish and Paraloid B-72 has been removed. The bone surface has deteriorated over the last 20 years after surviving well for 100 million years +

@ButlerLabBham Yes, they are astonishing aren't they ? And wouldn't it be wonderful to see them in a recognised museum where they would be accessible to all.

6. And of course @McrMuseum has to join the woke brigade and make a comment on 'decolonisation', whatever that word means. If they'd bothered to ask me, all the dinosaurs I collected in North America were done so along with members of the Blackfeet Indian tribe in Montana !!

4. Limb bones have been mounted in their broken state, rather than repairing (glueing) them. Thus an ugly gap in the sinistral femur and even worse in the sinistral ulna.

3. All bones attached to the armature with nylon fishing line. I suspect this will degrade with time - rather worrying...

2. Only the original bones have been mounted with all reconstructed elements omitted - that's rather strange? It illustrates how complete April is, but she is rather bereft of chevrons and digits ! Just as well she has all her limbs !

1. A lot is being made of the 'new' quadrupedal pose. The irony is that when we bought 'April' in 1999, it was a toss-up between her, a 75% complete real dinosaur, and a resin cast of one of the Bernissart Iguanodons in what was then the new quadrupedal pose. We chose April !

Certainly good to see 'April' the Tenontosaurus back on display at Manchester Museum @McrMuseum, after deteriorating in the museum cellars for 20 years, but some concerns about the mounting.

Great to catch up with @LagerstatteJohn this morning and show him round the new @McrMuseum dinosaur gallery! April seemed happy to see her dad again 😊🦕💗

So, the latest 'new' entrance to Manchester Museum is right in the middle of the old Mineralogy Gallery, or as it should properly be called, 'The First Geology Gallery'. Michael Eagar would be horrified - he fought to keep this for Geology. #manchestermuseum
