@Myaccountbaned3 @Tom_Antonov we are getting there..still 45 years lifespan for these pieces of technology sound over estimated, 20% of these planes will crash and the inflation is now incontrollable with Tariff. Diversifying the source of the fighters would have been wise in the current context.

@Lagugne @Tom_Antonov Fly-away cost is 89 million USD, that 70 billion is CAD = $48 billion+ USD That 70 billion figure includes 45 years of inflation, spare parts, ammunition and upgrades Rafale price (2023 Qatar deal) was $7B for 24 jets, a non-stealthy, less capacity jet but more expensive

Should #Canada start by cancelling the $70 Billion F35 program for only 88 planes and buy reliable #Rafale instead? 😎

@Myaccountbaned3 @Tom_Antonov 88 planes at 80 million each equals 7 billions not 70 billions. this implies that over 40 years of the lifetime of a single plane we pay 10 times its initial cost for its maintenance. it s like we could exchange the plane every 4 years for a new one!!! insane pricing!

@Tom_Antonov The 70 billion CAD quoted is the total life cycle cost including acquisition, development, upgrades, operation cost of the whole fleet to the 2070s The unit cost of the Canadian F-35 is 80+ million USD. You can’t find a better deal, Rafale’s is less capable and more expensive

@JustinTrudeau $70billion for 88 planes make the cost of a single F35 of 795million including its maintenance over its lifespan. The catalogue price is about 150M per plane. So the maintenance per plane is the cost of 5 planes. not a good deal for Canadians at all.

No one — on either side of the border — wants to see American tariffs on Canadian goods.   I met with our Canada-U.S. Council today. We’re working hard to prevent these tariffs, but if the United States moves ahead, Canada’s ready with a forceful and immediate response.
