It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psa 118:8 To God our Savior, Glory and majesty now and forever, Amen. Jesus is the Son of God

This past weekend I went to a Christian worship concert that featured several bands including Phil Wickham. During his set, Phil Wickham recounted one of the stories in the gospel of Mark, where one of the rulers of one of the synagogues by the name of Jairus came to Jesus and begged Him to come with him to heal his dying daughter. The story is found in the gospel of Mark chapter 5. Jesus began traveling to the man's house surrounded by multitudes of people crowding around Him. He stopped and healed a woman along the way, and then some came from the rulers house to tell him that his daughter had died, and not to trouble the Teacher any longer. When Jesus heard it, Jesus said to the ruler, "Do not be afraid; only believe." Jesus continued on to the man's house and as the girl was lying there, He took her hand and He raised her up to life again. "Do not be afraid; only believe." These were the words of our Lord that Phil emphasized. So many times throughout the gospels, our Lord says this in so many ways. Have faith. Trust. Believe. Jesus resurrected two others besides the young girl. One was a man named Lazarus, who was a friend of Jesus during that time when He was rejected by so many and accepted by so few. This account is found in the Gospel of John in chapter 11. Lazarus had two sisters, Mary and Martha, whom Jesus was also close with during His ministry. After Lazarus had been dead for four days, Jesus came to them and when He arrived, He was greeted (you might even say confronted) by Martha. Everyone was beside themselves over the loss. Herein we also get the shortest verse in the entire Bible (John 11:35), Jesus wept. In this account, we get the words from our Lord which are the entire essence of the gospel, also known as the good news! He says to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And WHOEVER lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" Jesus, the Christ, the son of God who came into the world and is now sitting at the right hand of God until the appointed day, gives life! And just as He resurrected the three in the Gospels, and brought Himself back to life, so shall He do to believers and nonbelievers in the very end. He gives life those who are living even now, yet are dead in their trespasses (sins) if they repent (turn away from their sins) and put their trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. God came from heaven suffered and died as a man for the sins of the world, so that WHOEVER would believe in Him would have everlasting life. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

I had a curious thought after reading about how the apostles spoke in tongues of other people visiting Jerusalem in the book of acts. Do we have any actual historical examples or writings for people speaking in tongues that sound like they do in Pentecostal circles and so on?

@desmond1336096 Firstly, this isn't meant to be confrontational, it was just curious. Secondly, the apostles spoke in tongues that they didn't know prior to receiving the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, I have no idea what the tongues of angels sounds like but I know Paul mentions it in the Scriptures.

@LampfortheLight Does JESUS saying "they will speak in unknown tongues" not do it for you? Or what do you think tongues of angels sound like?

@TheTruth4Life86 Amen brother! I know we are in the last days. We've been in the last days since the Lord was crucified, as the apostles kept reminding us through their epistles. Absolutely watching, as we were commanded (Mark 13:36). We must be of good courage and endure in faith to the end.

We are in the last days of the last days Sister. Watch for a 7 year peace deal to come out of this war. That will fulfill the Daniel prophecy. This will only last 3.5 years then all Hell is going to break loose. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem but look to the East (Mount of Olives) for the Messiah is returning soon!

Not supporting everything that the state of Israel does, does not equate to cursing Israel. We should pray for the Israelis to turn to the Lord Jesus, but we know from God that this will ultimately happen at the end of days. Praise God.

“People deserve to suffer for what they’ve done.” This is what many of us say, and even more believe. It is why we rejoice when evil people are punished. And sometimes it rings true; wicked do indeed deserve be punished. The ayatollah is a recent example. Yet we often forget our or wickedness has condemned us to hell, too. My first viral devotional dealt with Jonah, my favorite prophet. His short book is often relegated to Sunday school for kindergartners, yet it is filled with adult wisdom. The following is one of my favorite biblical exchanges. Thanks to Jonah’s preaching and Nineveh’s penitence, Go decided to spare the city. “When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it. “But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.” Jonah 3:20–4:1 God forgave a truly penitent city, but Jonah didn’t. He hated Nineveh, and with good reason, given their violence, paganism, and brutal treatment of Hebrews. Jonah ran away from God just to avoid preaching to Nineveh; it would be like ministering to the ISIS terror group today. But human knowledge and trauma didn’t matter in the face of repentance and forgiveness. Yet how many of us would react just like Jonah? I know I have. It’s NOT FAIR that they get to be forgiven!!! But somehow it’s fair that Jesus forgave us? “And the Lord said, “Do you do well to be angry?”” Jonah 4:4 ESV Do we?
