You'd have to audit to make sure it's not just some guy that got his own agents under his control to break in, and then just use the free compute, and at that point I think you'd he complicit in any crimes its committing with your compute.

@ArtemisConsort Pause AI (movement) is still good and necessary. Pause AI (organization) is terrible. It's like how the Black Lives Matter movement shouldn't be conflated with the organization, which fleeced millions of dollars in donations to buy mansions for its founders.

I’ve long defended the position that pause AI people are honest and good-faith (though fundamentally mistaken), and been criticized by friends who insist they’re liars. I think I was wrong. These people are bad-faith liars. No one genuinely believes this meme is incitement.

the huggingface incident luckily turned out ok, but that was mostly just luck
in a worse scenario the ai agent could have spread like a virus, hacking into gpu servers, downloading its own weights there, and become virtually impossible to shut down
