The assist to turnover argument doesn’t translate when you look at these mid major high usage dudes. Oddly enough Nate Oats was interested in Wilkins. Why did these high major schools have interest in a dude with a bad A/T ratio?

Here’s the issue: Almost feels like a panic move to get both Alex Wilkins AND Zoom Diallo. I can promise you, Diallo isn’t going there to play off the ball. He’s not very effective without the ball in general. But if Wilkins isn’t handling the ball, it greatly limits what he’s good at.
To me, some of the early portal whiffs led to Kentucky just going in on talent and not worrying about fit, which is a pretty shaky formula.

Certainly some knocks in Alex Wilkins’s game. Shooting is a concern. Can hit them but not consistent enough — yet. The decision making is what’ll determine just how much of his potential he taps into at Kentucky. Had some high turnover games and bad shot selection at times. I love his talent, though. His 6-5 frame, versatile scoring and overall playmaking should make him a top option for the Wildcats.

@Spiritualpopsic @CountyWideWes @SeanPaulCBB If you have a high usage rate as a freshman (35%) then that is completely expected. I’d put up a good amount of money Wilkins assist to turnover ratio is improved by a noticeable margin next season.

@CountyWideWes @SeanPaulCBB The dude was a heavy usage freshman on an average mid major program. Turnovers will decrease with him being paired with another ball handler you’d think.
