@CheatOnWifesen @maxedapps Exactly. For API layer, unless you rely on Axios adapters to mock various environments (like testing requires, though most fronenders have no clue about them), you can totally build your own wrapper, package it up, and reuse it.

First time building payment features. I integrated Stripe and another platform. Stripe's CLI and sandbox environment have really done a good job. The CLI solves the local tunneling issue perfectly. Meanwhile the other platform doesn't even have a dev environment. I have to spend my own money to test it, 1 cent per time. Good job @stripe

I'm building a Three.js like engine on .NET. Three.js is the best business oriented rendering engine I've ever seen, I really wanted something similar for .NET. I’ve already implemented some core components, a UWP renderer, and XAML wrappers that allow you to declare components directly in XAML, just like react-three-fiber. I call it ThreeSharp.

Trying to build a 3d viewer. Based on a three.js like rendering engine but .NET. Just because Microsoft is moving everyone to a babylon.js based webpage from a native app.

Windows used to have many native apps, from Mail Calendar to Fresh Paint and 3D Viewer, not to mention Project Austin. To support custom rendering, Microsoft even introduced the SwapChainPanel to the .NET managed platform, it was a brilliant and highly ambitious piece of engineering. But Microsoft proceeded to gut everything in favor of WebView. I have no idea what they’re thinking, perhaps the previous PMs were just a bunch of web-only Gen Z-ers.

Microsoft is putting together a new team to focus on building 100% native apps for Windows 11. And honestly, it’s long overdue. The real problem with Windows 11 isn’t ads, but the shift from native apps to web apps. The rushed adoption of web over native frameworks has hurt Windows 11. From WhatsApp to Weather to the pre-installed video editor, everything is a web app running inside Edge or a Chromium container. Open Task Manager and search for WebView -- you’re going to find many apps are web-based, including Outlook. And this doesn’t even include the Electron apps in Windows 11.
