My 8yo MacBook Pro is dying. I've done what I can to extend its life. I'm now without a dock and seeing the dynamic menu bar. Normally cool, but the predictive text it shows while writing is distracting. But I'm getting used to it and my new Mac Mini is on its way. Woo hoo!

@kiragriffoo Can't describe camp here. 🙋‍♀️ I do dialog and action first, then have to layer in description and narrative. Interiority is the worst.

@lhallwriter Yes. Sometimes they're an amalgamation of many people. Sometimes they're a replica of one person. In my last book, an editor criticized a character for being over the top and not remotely real. I was like, "Those are exact quotes from things he said to me, Brenda." 😂

@klhicks912 I complained to my hubby about not finding anything good to read. It went like this (after my complaint): Hubby: Write your own book. Me: What? Hubby: You know what you like to read. Write your own book! Me: 🧐 Okay. I will. Two books later... 😁

What drew you into writing? Mine was not having enough to read, so I began trying to write my own at 8 and again at 16

@MadcapCreations I never expected to win an award either, but I submitted my book for an editorial review and they submitted my book for an award, which I won! (It's quite stunning to have your work declared outstanding by people who do it for a living.) Aim high. You never know. 💕

I don't see myself winning any awards for my writing. In fact, I'll be surprised if anything I write makes it onto a bookstore shelf within 1000 miles of here. But I've finished a book and I have it on good authority that it's worth reading. That's enough for me.

@klhicks912 I don't want to be bored. But I also don't want to have my heart in my throat the whole time. I like fast-paced stories, but need breaks from the constant tension where we can slow down and enjoy the calm/funny moments.
