@FrMatthewLC @SewsAndArrows I hold that baptism is irrelevant to salvation, but is merely an outward public expression of faith - Christ was baptised as an adult so where is the biblical precedent for infant baptism in the first place?

It's the 97th minute in the Champions League final. The score is 0-0 and your team has a penalty. You can pick any player in your club’s history to take the penalty. Who is it?

@Samfr @IsabelHardman Found it very eye opening about the costs required to just get selected and elected!

Enjoyed @IsabelHardman's "why we get the wrong politicians". Probably the most empathetic book I've read about politics - both towards the politicians themselves but also towards lots of marginal groups that get screwed over by our useless system.

@Buck4Eva @LouisDegenhardt @lewis_goodall Yea pretty much. The problem with the rationale in my tweet is also that my income next week is fixed (usually, accept there will be exceptions) whereas gas companies can just rack up as much profit as possible whilst exploiting their customers

@LandLonely @LouisDegenhardt @lewis_goodall This is true. I think it rankles so much with people because it's viewed as excess profit. All businesses (unless run as a not-for-profit) need to make money, profits make increased dividends more likely and therefore increase investment, and thus the cycle continues.

👀👀from Jacob Rees Mogg this morning on a windfall tax: "What do you solve by a windfall tax?...Retrospective taxation is difficult... Tax on corporations ultimately falls on individuals anyway." "The idea a windfall tax as a panacea to the inflation problem is wrong"

@Buck4Eva @LouisDegenhardt @lewis_goodall The difference is you know the work you do next week will be taxed. Companies don’t know when or of windfall taxes will apply to profits which they’ve already payed tax on. (Just explaining the rationale, not agreeing with it necessarily)

@LouisDegenhardt @lewis_goodall I wonder if I can use that rationale to not pay income tax? It's retrospective, it's taxing me for work I've already done and money already earned. I need it for future investment purposes too, in the same way these multinationals do, so I therefore claim exemption.

@Samfr I think it’s a mix, perhaps getting more wealthy over generations as well, and religious beliefs may play a part idk - I think local MP Bob Blackman in Harrow plays a big part in playing to the Hindu vote

I'd like someone to do a long read on the Hindu vote shifting Tory (e.g. Harrow yesterday) and whether it's more to do with integration (the Jewish vote also became more Tory over time) or specific factors like Kashmir and Johnson's support for Modi.

@dbcxptures @chantellee_m Addition to your theory is they did it to cut the earths population and inflate everything to control the way people work and spend money

I have theory, Covid was instigated by the government so they could rise that cost of inflation so drastically.
