@NoseInFront Current forecast (the trusty Norwegian model) showing rain Tues evening (6mm+) and then a wet Weds/thurs, that could be enough to swing the ground back to soft for the rest of the week. It won’t take much given the water table being much higher than usual.

The ground is certain to make this year’s Cheltenham even more interesting than usual. After a season where most have been campaigned on the softer stuff, it looks highly likely it’ll be Good to Soft for Day 1. @DizzyJB @jamesaknight @Mikedq Likening NH racing to the AI hype cycle… we are simply moving through the trough of disillusionment, hopefully a reset of expectations (and drop in commercial value) to the festival is a good thing long term.

@jamesaknight @Mikedq That’s my reading of it. Bankers all flopped last year and no real superstars emerging this season. Should ironically make the Festival more competitive and interesting as a result!

Feels like, outside of the Constitution Hill saga, there has been remarkably little chat about the Festival this year? Much lower profile and more similar to Royal Ascot. This is a good thing imo - we won’t all be dead bored of it by the time it comes around.

By my reckoning (I might've missed someone obvious), Sam Twiston-Davies is the winning-most jockey round Cheltenham (generally, not the Festival) currently riding.

@TomMav24 @TheRacingJosh I just feel ‘appalling’ is bit harsh given the ‘better’ horses went on to be 175 rated in their spheres and in the Schloer Chases he beat a 167 rated Edwardstone by 9L in 2023 and then in this years cosily put up 160+ when evidently needing the run.

@Larker @TheRacingJosh He’s won two Schloer chases which were absolute gimmes, but when it comes to the big day in March, he’s been put in his place by better horses. He’s the lay of that list easy

@TheRacingJosh Jonbon or Fact To File. Jonbon’s course form is appalling and with Fact To File, it just feels like they’ve run out of options. Probably the more likely of the two to win.
