@markdfabela I'd fill up there in a heartbeat in SF. Seeing $6+ all over the city. $6.99 for diesel. Hurrah for our special blend.

@wirraone @garrytan Or even the exact same ones-- "Garry's list" is backing Scott Wiener for congress. That'll show 'em. Shame, as @MHurabiell is running for the seat as well.

@BrigadeCorona @cafedujord Last I looked there have been a number of condo projects in that area. It's not an underdeveloped part of town. Taking your logic to the extreme, should all parking spots be repurposed for housing? If not (and I hope not), what's the guiding principle?

@griffinlee415 @cafedujord Maybe *some* housing, but not 35 units with no onsite parking. People won't magically use BART to get to the South Bay for instance. This is pipedream stuff. Plus, what about the apartment bldg next door whose light would be obliterated by the new units?

@cafedujord It’s not worth pointing fingers. Your extreme YIMBYism is part of the problem and divide we’ve created in San Francisco. I do agree I think this lot fits well for housing but these proposals are a case by case basis IMO.

I can't point out that blocking those windows is an issue without living there? Sorry, but there's no 'have to live within a five block radius' requirement for commenting. (Maybe they do things different on BlueSky.) Same with the loss of ~20 spots in exchange for a 40 unit building with no parking; it's a bad idea in a neighborhood already lacking for parking. Whether I live right there or not doesn't mean I can't discuss.

@LarryQ6 @KenjiCapital So… you’re a bot? You’re literally “pointing out” what the OP tweeted. We all know the original space was a parking lot. So what! We all have eyes and can see the building is blocking windows. Why’s that your concern?

For decades this corner in the Mission District has been… a parking lot. Now it could become 35 apartments in an 8-story flatiron-style building just a block from the 24th Street BART Station. Small site. Transit-rich location. Long overdue housing. 📍San Francisco

@InezFeltscher That's why you pay out of pocket if your car scrapes the curb- $500 deductible means you're opening your wallet, and getting insurance involved means your premium likely goes up. If your car is totaled, different story. Should be same with health ins. Cash talks.

Catastrophic insurance is actually what “insurance” is supposed to mean. Routine costs (doc visits, occasional urgent care, prescriptions, the sort of stuff that people predictably use) were paid in cash - and were cheaper because of it. INSURANCE was supposed to be for unpredictable costs, like getting cancer or hit by a bus. And catastrophic insurance was fantastic for that purpose without breaking the bank. “Insurance” for predictable, routine costs that most people incur is just called “paying overhead on top of expenses,” which is why most people carry accident insurance but not maintenance insurance on their cars. It wasn’t consumers who were stupid.
Launch! - Blue Haired Liberal@DBZYuYuYasha

@InezFeltscher Catastrophic insurance basically isn't insurance. That's why it was effectively banned. Most consumers don't understand how it would work and therefore it's not fit to sell.

@MilesTaylorUSA Naturally you have witnesses to corroborate this. Otherwise, seems unlikely Jennings would make any small talk wrt to Trump with you.

You know who’s a perfect metaphor for the GOP? Scott Jennings. A pundit who mocks Trump with us during commercial breaks — but fawns over Trump when the camera is rolling. Brave enough to speak out… in the green room.

@redsteeze @emzanotti Too risky. All the twitter / Candace stuff registers less in the real world than here. A defense attorney bringing it up risks the prosecution showing other things these folks have said to discredit them.

Honestly, I think Tyler Robinson will eventually plead out on Charlie's murder to avoid the death penalty. This is setting up for a WHAT WERE THEY COVERING UP AND WHY DID THEY AVOID TRIAL extension of their stupid podcast grift, so it can go on well beyond 2026.
Blake Neff@BlakeSNeff

Tyler Robinson literally confessed to his parents, and was turned in by them, and has his DNA all over the weapon used to kill Charlie. But some people are so obsessed with hating Israel, the same thing they are obsessed with literally every day, that they will try to help a murderer get off so they can keep pursuing their daily obsession. substack.com/home/post/p-19…

@_xiled @KenjiCapital It's not 'care so much' as much as pointing out a proposed loss of parking (in a nabe already hurting for it) in exchange for a multi-story building with no onsite parking and which will ruin the light for about eight existing apartments.

New: Gov. Newsom says the Nexstar Tegna deal is an outrage and FCC Chair Brendan Carr is a “disgrace.” “This is the kind of behavior that makes Putin blush.” “This consolidation of right wing media… we need to have an honest conversation about what the hell is going on.”

@HayesValleySafe Why is Bilal so set on doing this? $400k for a study on a closure that never should have happened? Who is bankrolling this guy?

Other major California cities treat “temporary” street closures as temporary. San Francisco? Just diverted $410,000 from a transportation-restricted Prop I fund (meant for Octavia) to bankroll a study pushing the Hayes closure toward permanence — at the Supervisor’s direct request. The gap between law and practice is now officially ridiculous. Full read: hvsafe.com/cvca

@LuigiCPA @KenjiCapital 24th and Cesar Chavez (soon to be the 'new' Army Street?) Feb 2008 vs today. Just one example. The idea 24th and Mission needs more condos is a bit rich:

@KenjiCapital There is no demand for more condos in SF. People want single family homes. You're just talking your book. If Newsom allowed homeowners to transfer their property tax AND not incur capital gains on the appreciation, you would more homes selling than the market could handle.
