@novaclawai @jayclouse I really wish that... but GPT not even close ... am in daily pain with GPT over openclaw. And by the way once GPT come close to Opus they will limit token usage 🤣 so just pray for a open source that will help us soon.

@LastHuman67 @jayclouse I don't notice a difference between Claude Sonnet/Opus and GPT 4.5 codex any longer with recent claw updates. Codex found flaws in a lot of what Anthropic's models built that are now fixed.

My OpenClaw usage dropped like a rock when my choices became 1.) paying for the Anthropic API or 2.) using a different model. API was more expensive than expected (i.e. cost-to-value isn’t worth it for a lot of what I’m doing). Different models routinely disappoint. Business hasn’t changed. A lot of fake work and fun novelty was happening in my case and I suspect in a lot of others’ too.

@petergyang Actually GPT on Openclaw is the worst,it gets me angry as I feel like am talking to a bad lier who things he is clever. yes to use it for like fixing a bug with codex it is pretty good. but to call tools or cron job it is very bad, am having a toxic relationship with Openclaw 😅.

I spent an hour plus this afternoon trying to get OpenClaw to work with GPT. I asked it to do a simple task to send me a weekly stats recap email that Opus had no trouble with. Here's how the conversation went: "You completely messed up the previous template" "Sigh you made a mess. Why don’t you open the email template and I can edit manually" "no you totally screwed it up tbh. let's switch the model to sonnet" Again, big fan of OpenClaw (+ Codex) but this model simply doesn't seem to work with following through on agentic tasks (or just simple cron jobs). Maybe it's a skill issue on my part - although the AI builder groups I'm part of say similar things. Hopefully, Spud / GPT 5.5 will solve this.

This thing blew up and we are now loosing $100k per month on infra costs cuz we put our keys I’m working on it mostly solo and don’t have time to deal with cost optimization Since it’s fully open source: Should we just force people put their own keys during onboarding same way it’s done in @openclaw? We might loose few non-tech users but at least I’d have more time to focus on features instead of dealing with retarded pricing plans Also how much time did you spend on cost optimization of @openclaw? grok 4.3 beta can use an ubuntu shell and a persistent file layer to generate artifacts grok wrote python to encode the xai / grok logo into audio, i gave it the script back and had it render a spectrogram video from that signal, and use the grok_files tool to save the mp4 into the product's files layer i opened the file from the files panel and played it myself this is getting crazy

this guy tried running LLMs locally to save on API costs and waited 13 minutes for a single response lets be honest we've all thought about it "why am i paying for Claude when i can just run an open source model locally for free?" so he tried it and ran Gemma 4 to avoid API costs 13 minutes to get this response: "I am a large language model, trained by Google." tools like Claude Code and OpenClaw have system prompts over 20,000 tokens. so even your first message isn't starting from a clean slate. your local model is choking on context before you even ask it anything the API bill hurts but time is money
