🚨🎙️Thierry Henry on Chelsea’s denied penalty appeals in the FA Cup Final, SLAMS VAR: 💣🤯
“If those same decisions happen against Manchester City at the other end, people are calling it corruption for a week straight. Chelsea got robbed today.
The first one on João Pedro before halftime was a clear penalty for me. Khusanov doesn’t even try to play the ball, he just goes through the back of him. Then in the second half, Doku clips Caicedo driving into the box and somehow VAR still stays quiet.
And the handball? We’ve seen those given all season. Enzo’s cross strikes O’Reilly’s arm and suddenly everyone wants to pretend the rules are different in a cup final.
That’s three huge moments in one match and Chelsea got nothing from any of them. No proper VAR intervention, no consistency, no urgency from the officials.
If Arsenal or Liverpool were treated like that in a final, football wouldn’t stop talking about it for months. Chelsea didn’t just lose the FA Cup today, they were officiated out of it.”

🚨🎙️Ian Wright on how Chelsea got robbed in the Fa Cup Final, multiple penalty appeals turned down by referee Darren England and breaks down the rules behind every controversial incident:
“I don’t care what badge is on the shirt, if that’s at the other end and it’s against Manchester City, people are screaming corruption for a week. Chelsea got robbed today. Absolutely robbed.
The first one on Joao Pedro before halftime? That is not a ‘coming together’. Khusanov doesn’t even attempt to play the ball, he just body-checks him straight through the back. Under the laws, if you impede or charge a player carelessly inside the box without playing the ball, it’s a penalty. Simple. VAR hiding behind ‘subjective contact’ is nonsense.
Then the second-half madness… two penalty appeals in about 10 seconds and somehow none reviewed properly? Doku clips Caicedo while he’s driving into the area, there’s contact, no touch on the ball, and Chelsea players are begging for consistency because we’ve seen softer ones given all season.
And the handball? Don’t even get me started. Enzo Fernández whips the ball in and it strikes O’Reilly’s arm/elbow. People keep saying ‘his arm was tucked in’ but the law also talks about making the body unnaturally bigger and blocking the trajectory of the ball. We’ve literally seen those given in the Premier League this season. So what’s the standard anymore? Every week fans are told something different.
And then AGAIN on Joao Pedro around the 66th minute, Khusanov makes contact from behind as Gusto’s cross comes in and Pedro goes down. Once more, no urgency from VAR. No referee sent to the monitor. Nothing.
That’s three huge moments in one cup final. Three. Chelsea players were looking around like they already knew nobody was helping them today.
If Arsenal or Liverpool got treated like that in a final, football wouldn’t hear the end of it for months. But because it’s City on the other side, everyone suddenly wants to act ‘calm’ and ‘neutral’.
Chelsea didn’t just lose a final… they got officiated out of one.”

Hadn’t even realised Moi got booked for the same “great defending” as Khusanov 😂 (via @cfcyusxf)

🚨🎙️ Wayne Rooney on Chelsea’s controversial FA Cup Final defeat against Manchester City:
“I’ve watched football long enough to know when a team’s been hard done by, and Chelsea were absolutely robbed today. I don’t care who you support, some of those decisions were unbelievable.
The first incident on Joao Pedro before halftime is a penalty for me all day long. Khusanov doesn’t go for the ball, he goes straight through the man. Anywhere else on the pitch that’s a foul instantly, so why does it suddenly become ‘not enough contact’ inside the box? Makes no sense.
Then in the second half, the one on Caicedo… Doku clearly catches him as he’s driving forward. Chelsea players are surrounding the referee asking for consistency because we’ve seen those given plenty of times this season. VAR had every opportunity to step in and once again nothing happens.
And the handball shout? That’s another one people will debate all week. The ball hits O’Reilly’s arm from Enzo’s cross and I honestly don’t know what defenders are supposed to do anymore because we’ve seen penalties given for far less than that. Every week the interpretation changes.
What frustrated me most was the reaction from the officials. No urgency, no proper review, no referee going over to the monitor. In a cup final, with moments that big, you have to get them right.
Chelsea players looked furious because deep down they probably felt the decisions were never going their way today. Three huge calls, all ignored. That changes games, especially finals.
If this happened to Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal, everyone would be talking about it for weeks. But because it’s Manchester City on the other side, people seem scared to really question it properly.
Chelsea didn’t only lose the final today… they were let down badly by the officiating.”

Since January 2019 — Chelsea has featured in 7 domestic cup finals at Wembley.
7 losses
1 goal scored in 750 minutes of football + additional time
The Chelsea curse at Wembley continues — so much so that you're almost starting to think it's not a curse — but rather a higher power not wanting Chelsea to win.
In the League Cup final in 2019 — Hazard was through in the dying minutes of extra time and the ref blew the whistle for offside — wrongly. We went on to lose in a penalty shootout.
In the FA Cup final in 2020 — Anthony Taylor decided to screw us over again — like he did in 2017. Kovacic was sent off for being stamped on by Xhaka. Emi Martinez handballed outside the box without being punished. Arsenal got a penalty for a foul outside the box.
In the FA Cup final in 2021 — Ben Chilwell had an equalizer disallowed for a wrongly called offside.
In the League Cup final in 2022 — Lukaku had a goal disallowed for offside — again wrong. We went on to lose another penalty shootout.
In the FA Cup final in 2022 — we lost yet another penalty shootout.
In the League Cup final in 2024 — we choked vs Liverpool's C team (thanks Poch).
And today we have three 50/50 penalty decisions all given against us because Darren England is too much of a coward to make a tough decision.
It's adding up to something that simply can't be excused away as "bad luck" anymore.
