Many people don't realize you can distort UVs in Poiyomi and then optionally use the distorted UVs anywhere in Poiyomi by selecting distorted UV from the UV dropdown of any texture.

@Pursu777 @bambi_vr Oh yeah, it might be. Didn't think at first, but those hair strands creating loops that go back up to the scalp is suspicious. You can usually tell if something's AI if the color channels all have the same noise pattern.

@vrcJohn @imokVR I'm pretty sure dynamic and forced are the same, except dynamic can be overwritten by world settings. I ran into a world once where dynamic didn't change anything, and setting it to forced crashes the game depending on where you're looking

@LynxJinxxy @Jinxxy_com I like editing avatars, but I'm no artist, and one of the most difficult part is making/editing textures. I wouldn't mind purchasing a quality avatar that has AI generated textures as long as it's ethical AI (trained on licensed art, etc.), but I don't think it's a thing yet...

@LynxJinxxy @Jinxxy_com I'm not a creator, but I like the idea of tagging products that were made or partially made with AI. A badge indicating whether it's partially, mostly or fully created with AI (over 10%, 50% or 90%) and having the creator be able to elaborate how AI was used would be nice imo.

We just got some products on @Jinxxy_com using AI generation for textures. We don't have a policy for this yet. We've always been a creator first platform, so I just wanted to see you guys feel about this and what they feel the best policy / course of action is. However you feel about AI morally, I think it's a tool that's being used and it's here to stay. Personally I think Steam got it right; Let customers know there's AI used in the process of creating and make sure it's not illegal or breaking copyright.

@Fxvei I feel like it really only works well if it fits thematically with the avatar. Like a sci-fi avatar having hologram-like dissolve or something. Not many good use cases outside that imo.

@DShankar @Thrilluwu @ezreeszy I understand that R&D costs a ton, and getting more sales off the work that's already been done is ideal, but I really hope Bigscreen has plans to eventually release more headsets with different sets of compromises. Especially with the "made to fit" custom manufacturing approach

Electric shocks can be due to USB ports on a PC that we do not control. USB controllers can be notoriously bad and varied in their stability, electrical noise, and quality. You could also try USB wall plugs. This isn't something that we can fix, and isn't an issue with the Beyond itself as we have gone through far more rigorous electronic certification testing for this exact type of scenario. It's battle tested in labs to ensure the headset and the wearer are safe within federal regulations of electronic discharge levels. This may also vary from headset to headset because of how power is supplied. Index for example has a separate power plug, while Beyond uses USB. The tracking concern would again be a symptom of electrical stability issues, as it's reliant on clean power from the PC. There are also environmental factors, but it's unlikely to be the device itself as it has an overkill amount of 22 tracking diodes on it. That being said, SteamVR always benefits from 3-4 base stations for truly top tier performance. Customer support responds to ticket within 1-3 business days today, not 3-4 weeks. That used to be the case during periods of extreme load like holiday 2023 or April 2024. It is not the case now. It's hard to make a single strap that pleases everyone. Some people love the Soft Strap, some people absolutely hate it. I think most people will love the Audio Strap if they hated the Soft Strap. The only solution is to have multiple types of straps to satisfy each person's unique needs. Audio Strap has gone through numerous design revisions. The final version shipped to ~100 users. All but 1 user was happy with it. 1 person refunded it as they didn't like how it fit their head. The rest were glowing about it. This final version has been ramping up production for the past couple months and we hit delay after delay with a specific supplier. Production has already begun (finally), and mass scale deliveries begin in August. When properly setup, it is impossible for the cable to slip out of the cable clip. Truly. If you tried, you would fully rip the cable into shreds first. If it's falling out, it's a sign that the cable isn't actually in the clip fully. Beyond is by no means perfect. We pour significant support and engineering effort to ensure every single customer has as perfect as an experience as possible. So far, approximately 10-15% of people have needed IPDs changed or cushion changed (at times, as high as 20% due to changes in face scanning algorithm). And yes, customers can change the IPD they want when ordering. We email people a link for that exact purpose, as OP wanted. To put it differently ~85-90% of people have a perfect experience out of the box. That's better than I expected for a custom-made product. Our goal is to make a flawless, excellent piece of kit that you can use every single day. For people not having that experience, we throw every support/engineering solution at it, or note it down as feedback for future product revisions. It's all important! While criticisms are certainly warranted and I don't want to be dismissive here...I think it's also fair to shine a light on the underlying details. Earlier this year, we crossed a significant 10,000 order milestone and it's so important to me that we care deeply about creating a perfect product and happy customers in order to get to 100,000 and then 1,000,000.

Things I found great & different since receiving my Bigscreen Beyond: - It regularly sends straight up 1-4s electric shocks through my entire head - It needed at least 3 base stations to not lose tracking & drift all the time, bc it's too small to be detected in certain dead angles - It looses tracking when you try to adjust it on your face, bc it get's fully covered by your hands - The flimsy strap is probably the worst one of all HMDs out there, w/ the cheapest tightening mechanism of all time - The lazy joke of top strap is an insult to all customers - Despite all efforts the HMD is still not light enough to be worn for long periods without the top strap - The cable clip feels like you're snapping your cable in half, each time you try to clip it - Despite that the cable clip doesn't hold shit & it permanently slips out during usage - There's no objective way to verify if the "blurriness" & bad experience is "the intended experience" or you got a wrong IPD/cushion, putting an insane inconvenience onto the customer for a 1500€ product - It doesn't ship with a generic interface, so if you receive a wrong interface, you're left with an HMD you can't use AT ALL, until resolved - Anything >70% render scaling in SteamVR produces constant stutters on a 4090/i19 12k - The customer support (while nice & quick, once in touch) takes 3-4 weeks to get to your ticket - The support material in their discord is done in MS Paint - The promised Audio Strap from Q3 2023, has not shipped, yet - The FOV, sweet spot, glare & blur is a MAJOR inconvenience (unusable, if you have the wrong IPD/interface) - There are certain dead-spots for controller tracking in some areas of the headset, which multiple people report & they still can't reproduce on their side - Prepare to buy a 3D printer to make up for all the things Bigscreen ignored to include w/ the headset Things I actually found great & different: - It's lighter & smaller than the Quest 3 or Index

@ezreeszy Hold up, "dead-spots for controller tracking?" I thought it was either my playspace or my old controllers. I regularly lose controller tracking towards the forward-right side of the headset, no matter where I'm standing in my playspace. Guess there's no fixing it really

@KroyVR That's true. I wonder if the dual lenses might end up being a big deal if they end up offering better clarity and low reflections compared to pancake lenses. I'll have to see what the reviews say.
