Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

@GaryMarcus I'm here to say again: em dashes were used heavily by 20th century writers, which is a) why us older folks don't spot them as remarkable, but more to the point b) they show up in AI outputs to a degree that seems excessive to younger readers now.

A bit of writing from the great Stanislaw Lem, one of the most intellectual science fiction authors of all time. (I especially loved his collection of forewards to non-existent books). note the em dashes—written in 1986* *he wrote in Polish, but the translator felt em dashes were appropriate.

Umm, why are we randomly throwing things out of the window of the private residence at the White House this morning...? Why would you not walk it downstairs? When in history has anything been chucked out the window - let alone during a potential health coverup of the president. If this is a benign action, they are sure as hell making it hard on themselves by doing all this weird stuff.

@adamscochran Not sure if this adds any insight, but I used background features and White House floorplans to figure out that the room they're tossing stuff from is the Lincoln Bathroom (attached to the Lincoln Sitting Room and the Lincoln Bedroom).

People don’t realize that this is weird because after 9/11 the windows were all replaced with sealed bullet proof windows including in the residence. To throw something out the window, means taking the window out of the window pane itself. BUT, security protocol says that contractors can’t have access to the residence while the President is staying at the White House. So if work is being done by a contractor on the private residence that means Trump wasn’t at the White House last night/this morning…
