@Edbuggie Interesting question @Edbuggie - I haven’t seen Meperidine used in labour since coming to Canada. I have zero experience with morphine. Generally it’s been nalbuphine by OB or fentanyl PCA. Remifentanil PCA limited by nursing and monitoring required. @noolslucas @LateralTilt?

We were underpowered to determine high spinal rate but 1:134 (95% CI 1:37-488) had a spinal block with documented dyspnea requiring endotracheal intubation. The true “high spinal” (dyspnea, weakness not requiring intubation) rate is unknown due to retrospective data

@doctimcook @Anaes_Journal I have used #6 TT in men and women for elective intubation in elective surgery for years without regret. Also use #4 face masks for men and #3 women for BMV - much better seal with these sizes.

I might well reverse the list -Always use an SGA when a TT is not indicated -Use small tubes (6.0-6.5 for men and women) Both “do less harm” Of course the type of SGA also affects the rate of sore throat - I-gel probably the lowest - whether I-gel plus will retain this advantage is currently unknown (and as its top penetrates further into the GI tract than the igel this is possible)

@LateralTilt @Assoc_Anaes @ANZCA @ASALifeline A solid summary on the risk of CSF infection with NO sterile gown at #OBAnes spinal. Is the possibility of increased risk acceptable? (We don’t put spinals in below 50, hematology do) And, if our central ethos is improved care - avoiding preventable harm- why is it? #OAA25ASM

@LateralTilt @Assoc_Anaes @ANZCA @ASALifeline Here I think @LateralTilt makes a good point - role modelling/social influence - I only stopped gowning once I joined a unit in 🇨🇦. No one else was doing it, except for COVID. I wonder how much the pandemic shapes this debate? We all value asepsis or none do? #OAA25ASM #OBAnes
