@peekaboo_jen If it turns out to be Frank Randall riding in on that horse to kill Jamie I’m going to explode. I think it’s more likely to be a BOMB cast member to promote the next season. I feel so let down and manipulated by this season, Tash

By this time next week the majority of us will have watched the final episode of #Outlander I am struggling to wrap my head around the idea of #Outlander truly ending. We have been talking about this moment for so many months, and yet it still feels like it has popped up out of nowhere. Soooooo, folks. How do YOU think it will end? What are your hopes for the final episode? And, perhaps more interestingly, what would upset you? Me? I really hope that the ending has nothing to do with Faith nor Fanny, or anyone else who has been revived from the dead in BoMB. Whilst Faith's death was something that always sat with Jamie and Claire, as it does for any parent who has suffered such a loss, Faith herself was not an integral character in the seasons after her death. Likewise, Fanny did not exist. As such, to me, the ending of this series, this final chapter of Jamie and Claire's lives should be theirs and theirs alone. It should be about them. Not Fanny. Not Faith. Not anyone else. I think we deserve that much. PS Please don't kill Jamie on screen. I don't mind if we get an epilogue and they are dead. After all, Jamie has been dead at some point in every season. I just don't want to see him actually die on screen. PPS If he does actually die on screen, best it be temporary and then they can have Claire bring him back. I am okay with that. Permanently dead? No. Mostly dead, as per The Princess Bride, and then revived because of true love, as per The Princess bride? Yes.

Out of every disgusting, dishonest piece of filth the mainstream media has produced about Hurricane Helene... This is the worst. 60 Minutes has NEVER done a story on the families FEMA denied. They NEVER mentioned the Amish, who are STILL in the mountains rebuilding homes 550 days later. They NEVER mentioned Jake Jarvis, who has worked 550 days STRAIGHT FOR FREE for Hurricane Helene victims. Instead, they dug up some fringe conspiracy angle to smear the people who actually showed up as White Nationalists. I'm so angry. Let me tell you what 60 Minutes will NEVER report on I was there. I lived it. I am still here. I shared every story I could find. Me, my wife, hundreds of volunteers delivered RVs to mothers holding babies who were sleeping in TOOL SHEDS AND TENTS in the freezing cold, in the mountains. Because their homes had been ripped off the side of a mountain and washed down the French Broad. So tell me 60 Minutes... WHERE WAS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? Tell me, WHY did all these volunteers NEED to show up? Any thoughts on that?!!!!! Any investigation AT ALL into the federal or state government's response to Hurricane Helene? Please tell me... if the federal government was doing such a GREAT JOB, why did we need to put victims in RVs... ...A MONTH AFTER THE HURRICANE?!!!!!!! Literally every single victim you talk to in Western North Carolina has a horror story about dealing with FEMA... ...and guess who they will all say actually cam through for them? Neighbors. Church groups. The Amish. The Cajun Navy. Shawn Hendricks. Samaritan's Purse. MercuryOne. The Mission Mules hauling insulin up washed-out roads, ONLY ACCESSIBLE by mules. Greg Biffle burning his own fuel in helicopters. Veterans like Adam Smith who organized helicopter rescues with other veterans BY HIMSELF and then was demonized by the media for it. Volunteers like Jake Jarvis working TO THIS DAY, 550 days later without ANY PAY AT ALL. THOSE ARE THE STORIES FROM HURRICANE HELENE WORTH TELLING. But 60 Minutes won't tell ANY OF THEM. Because the truth makes the federal government the villain and the "deplorables" are actually the heroes in this story and they can NEVER admit that. So instead they smeared the rescuers as white nationalists. This is unforgivable. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. And I will BE DAMNED if I let CBS rewrite the history of what happened to my mountains.

@Dsrtrdbikr The show did not do Jamie’s emotions justice when he lost Fergus. But that is par for the course for the show runner and writer. 😡

@dufitalexis1 You took me back to my childhood in Britain in the 60’s. We would ‘raise tadpoles’ from some of the frog spawn and watch them grow legs, lose their tails and eventually hop away. I live in the US now- but it’s the same-chemical sprays and concrete water features. Great post

Thirty years ago, most British gardens had a pond. Not an ornamental feature — a pond. Sometimes dug deliberately, sometimes inherited from an old cattle trough, sometimes just a hollow where rainwater sat from November through to July. The edges were rough. The water was not clear. And that was precisely what made it the most alive corner of the garden. Common frogs spawn from late January in the south to March in the north — gelatinous masses of eggs laid in the shallows where the water warms first. Smooth newts and palmate newts perform their courtship in the same weeks, the male displaying before the female with his dorsal crest raised. Dragonfly larvae spend two to three years in the bottom mud — voracious predators that regulate mosquito larvae far more effectively than any chemical treatment. Great diving beetles (Dytiscus marginalis) patrol below the surface and consume anything that dies. A healthy garden pond delivered services nobody calculated. A pair of common frogs and their offspring consume thousands of slugs, caterpillars, and mosquitoes per season. Adult dragonflies hunt flies in flight. Newts feed on slug eggs buried in the damp soil around the margin. A gardener with a pond rarely had a serious slug problem. The connection was rarely made — but it operated every night. The garden pond has disappeared for three reasons. Land drainage first — ditches piped, ground levelled, hollows filled with rubble. Fear second — of mosquitoes, of toddlers, of mess. Replacement third — the preformed plastic basin with a pump, a fountain, and goldfish, installed like garden furniture. The goldfish pond is the precise opposite of a living pond. Goldfish consume frog spawn, tadpoles, dragonfly larvae, and juvenile newts. A single pond with six goldfish eliminates all amphibian breeding within a significant radius — frogs detect fish chemically and will not spawn. The pump disturbs the surface and prevents aquatic plants from establishing. The bottom is kept clean, without silt — meaning no habitat for larvae. The gardener has installed a water feature that has suppressed every ecological function water once performed. How to restore it: dig a hollow of approximately 2 metres by 1.5 metres, 50-60cm deep at the centre, in a spot that receives morning sun and afternoon shade. Line with an EPDM butyl liner covered with 10cm of heavy clay soil. Fill with rainwater. Plant the margins with water mint, yellow iris, and marsh marigold. Never introduce fish. Never clean out the silt. Never filter the water. Common frogs find a new pond within weeks. Dragonflies lay eggs in the first summer. Newts arrive by the second year. The garden pond is not an ornament. It is the single most productive wildlife habitat a British garden can contain — and the one nobody thinks to restore first.

@samfancindyg It think many people feel the same way about seeing the positives that were found through the show. Though, I must say, I would have chosen to have had no season 8 rather than a terrible season 8. Lasting impressions are a tough one to be rid of, as their name implies.

SPOILER POST. "For a long time,” [Fergus] said at last, “when I was small, I pretended to myself that I was the bastard of some great man. All orphans do this, I think,” he added dispassionately. “It makes life easier to bear, to pretend that it will not always be as it is, that someone will come and restore you to your rightful place in the world.” He shrugged. “Then I grew older, and knew this was not true. No one would come to rescue me. But then--” He turned his head and gave Jamie a smile of surpassing sweetness. “Then I grew older still, and discovered that, after all, it was true. I am the son of a great man.” The hook touched Jamie’s hand, hard and capable." “I wish for nothing more." Diana Gabaldon, An Echo in the Bone. Fergus was the only child that Jamie had the opportunity to raise. More so than any other. Fergus was his son, by heart, by name, and by choice. I will never, ever, ever forgive Matt Roberts for what he has done to this story.

Game of Thrones Season 8 is widely considered one of the worst final seasons in television. Matt B. Roberts, the show runner of Outlander, apparently took that as a challenge.

“He was almost a culmination of a lot of characters I’ve played before.” I love that even after 12 years, Sam Heughan still says the same thing about how he felt when he first read about Jamie Fraser. Seeing the very book he read makes it feel even more special 🥹🤍

“It feels like everything just came into alignment, everything just fell into place. But obviously you draw upon as much of yourself as possible, so hopefully you’ll see Jamie that you all know and love. He’s my Jamie.. as well as yours.” - Sam Heughan ❤️

We put the land use argument to Keith. Keith. You are occupying agricultural land that could, theoretically, be used to grow crops. How do you respond? Keith stopped chewing. He looked at the field. The field is on a 30-degree slope in Devon. The topsoil is clay. The drainage is complicated. No tractor has successfully operated in the lower section without becoming a story people tell in the village pub. Keith looked at us. Keith, do you believe this field could produce food crops without you on it? Keith walked to the lower section of the field. He ate a thistle. He stepped on a bramble runner and ate that too. He looked at the clay in the corner where it waterlogged every winter and produced nothing except rushes, which Keith also ate. Are you saying the field is only productive because you're on it? Keith looked at us with the expression of an animal that has grasped the argument entirely and found the question slightly beneath him. He then left through the gate he had opened by himself. He was in the road for nine minutes. He ate a passing cyclist's energy bar. We are not including this in the land use efficiency report.
