1st stop at the @JohnInnesCentre breeders day: genome editing! From pod shedding in OSR to grain size variation in wheat & enhanced vit D in tomatoes, GE has a lot of potential. Also important in the discussion is public awareness & working closely with regulators.

Such a wide array of assays, tools & techniques being developed & used in the @OilseedRachel lab to understand interactions between OSR & cabbage stem flea beetle. These are crucial resources for the industry & the resulting insights will feed into IPM measures on-farm.

Onto the pea cage! @JohnInnesCentre is exploring the rich genetic variation in its 3.5K germplasm collection with a specific interest for nutrient content (protein, starch, oligosaccharides) & diseases such as downy mildew. Huge screening effort with 750 sequenced so far.
