@Laurakorb @dredbeveridge @aluzri1 @rcpsych Apologies if I have overlooked blood libel words and phrases. I am interested in this not because of the 'psychological formulation' but because it is a rare instance of the current situation in Gaza and Israel being discussed in a College forum (unlike Ukraine)

@psycholdham @dredbeveridge @aluzri1 @rcpsych This is different. It isnt talking about the current Israeli government which many rightly criticise, but trying to give a psychological formulation for the conflict. Jewish history is mentioned but there is no Jewish voice and lots of blood libel words and phrases.

@Andychuho @michaelh992 @IDF Are you kidding? The videos shows two entirely different people. They are known hostages and their identity has been announced (they aren't Israeli). Why deny all facts that don't sit with your preexisting beliefs?

The fact that absolutely no one at the #Shifa Hospital spoke about the presence of hostages inside the hospital during the past month and a half, I think is clear evidence, that #Hamas has a more permanent presence there. You would not bring hostages to a place you though could be compromised by ennemy intelligence, but to a place you felt absolutely certain you can control. This level of control and operational security is not achieved by operating there "from time to time". It means you know no one will speak, either because they are complicit, or because they're scared for their life.

@sonais20 @BeyNaveed Hi Polly, for some reason it seems my posts are being deleted! There are regulations before you can prescribe medical cannabis. Far more than when you prescribe other psychotropic medications. In the UK it's restricted more than other controlled drugs

@Laurakorb @BeyNaveed Sorry I wasn’t very clear I wasn’t trying to suggest you were advocating cannabis over non pharmacological interventions, but rather that it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and make sure that our last resort is the least bad it can be.

@PerinatalBirder @BeyNaveed Of course! The paper isn't about changing good practice but rather questioning existing prescribing (which should already only happen when physical health and environmental factors have been addressed) and considering whether there could be an alternative.

@BeyNaveed ‘Challenging behaviours’ should ideally only be managed with medication once you have optimised environment, treated any medical illnesses, addressed social concerns etc whatever the medication you use

@sonais20 @BeyNaveed Hi Polly, you are not wrong. Prescribing medical cannabis has actually more control and monitoring than other medication.

@BeyNaveed Why would we do that? It would need to be regulated like any prescribed medication. CBMP can be used as an alternative medication option (when others have failed) with emerging evidence and a better side effect profile

Today's strike has sparked a crucial debate with opposing views. The thread below highlights the motivation for those striking over the next 2 days. Strikes may or may not be the answer, but there is a problem and change is needed #NHSCrisis

1. Tomorrow i will be supporting the NHS #ConsultantsStrike About Me: ➡️ I am a cardiology consultant / professor @UHNM_NHS ➡️ i was from a working class background, i went to a state comprehensive. My dad left school at 16, mum at 12. I am the first / only member of my family to receive a higher education. I received a student grant to go to @UniofOxford. I left med school with little debt. I could not afford to train as a doctor now.
