Our journalist @kieran_andrieu is in Israeli detention, having been illegally captured alongside 462 other people while trying to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Here's what we know so far: - A lawyer from @AdalahEnglish met with him at Ashdod port yesterday, after waiting nine hours to be allowed in. She was present during his hearing and reports that he signed documents agreeing to immediate deportation. We don't know much else, but he didn't make any particular reports of violence. - 'No particular reports of violence' probably means he reported similar to the 331 other people Adalah were able to speak to at the port between 15:00 Thur and 05.30 Friday: systematic rights violations and abuse, including being forced to kneel for five hours with hands zip-tied together, and being denied water, sleep and toilet access. - We believe everyone, aside from four Italian politicians, was transferred to Ketziot prison this morning, and so Kieran is now there. - We don't know much at all about what is going on inside. The British consulate may have visited some people today, but this is unconfirmed. They have not visited Kieran, and it has been indicated that they may have been denied permission to do so. - Kieran is generally considered to be at higher risk of mistreatment in prison because he is British-Palestinian. The best thing we can do here, we think, is make it very clear that we are all watching to see how they treat him. - We are consistently being told that UK nationals will probably be deported in a group on Sunday or Monday. Aside from Kieran, we believe there are 12 others. We'll be there to meet him if this happens.

Of course they are, if you give disabled people money, we spend it, thereby stimulating the economy. For some disabled people, PIP is the very thing that actually enables them TO WORK AND THUS PAY TAX. If we don't have money, we'll be truly 'economically inactive' providing no stimulation whatsoever. It seems people would quite like money to be spent within the economy, unless it's disabled people who are doing it, in which case, how very dare we!

It’s Trans Day of Remembrance today, which can be a difficult and upsetting time. We know social media in particular can be a tough place to be for trans and non-binary people & their loved ones, especially on days like today. We’re here to listen and stand alongside you (1/3)

Today's news feels like an assault on disabled people. We are in a cost-of-living crisis. Government looking to slash disabled people’s income by hitting personal independence payment (PIP) is a horrific proposal. It's dangerous and risks leaving disabled people destitute. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Finally got to tell everyone in person we wanted to, so here's a life update: went to Stratford-upon-Avon, got engaged. Was already planning to spend the rest of my life with the beaut, but now I've got a shiny ring to go with it.

Trans Day of Remembrance is a day to pay respects to trans people who’ve lost their lives to violence and suicide. Sadly, it can also increase hate aimed at trans people, particularly on social media. We’re here to listen if you're struggling and stand by you in solidarity 💚1/3

I cannot continue joining ‘accessibility’ seminars which don’t have captions enabled. I refuse to struggle to hear someone presenting the reasons subtitles are important for business, while assuming no one in the sector could be disabled. It’s exhausting.

There’s a clear established link between gambling and suicide risk. Misusing the words of a suicide prevention charity to hide and deny this is disgraceful and we won’t let it silently happen. Read about our work on gambling-related harms 👇3/3 bit.ly/3QUXsnN

You can’t believe how kind the British are. Every morning, a van pulls up outside your house in Coventry. A friendly man brings you a freshly-baked flatbread to eat. It’s just for you,not anyone else in your family. Every afternoon he comes back to make sure you’ve eaten it. 1/

There is of course another side of @thameswater's relationship with the Hogsmill River, one of only two urban chalk streams in London. Yep that is Epsom storm tanks dumping sewage into the river, a chalk stream. How's that workout with the water voles do you think?
