I don’t think people really realize how GOOD for the game it is that Sky Striker and Mitsurugi piles are meta playable right now. These are two of the MOST accessible decks to any fledgling player due to the Legendary Modern decks, and represent an amazing time of YGO for all.

@TripleSnackers I completely get the comparison and it makes sense why someone would act this way, with one key exception. This isn’t life or death or salvation. It’s a game we all want to play. There’s no reason to be so tribal about it, do yoy agree or am I not making sense?

@LavLaboratory It makes a lot more sense when you compare alt formats to religions. Everyone involved in an alt format has an idea of how Yugioh ought to be, and while most are receptive to other alt formats, some are very zealous and hostile to different viewpoints

Alt formats of Yu-Gi-Oh really need to stick together my goodness. I saw posts dunking on GOAT and I felt so much empathy for what Genesys has to deal with of people evaluating it off of just cursory “research” We all have different formats we enjoy, let’s all just explore!

@TrevorAllenMD To say it “fell off” feels unfair. Goat still 100% has a playerbase just like it did before the pandemic, but just because it went mainstream and didn’t stay doesn’t mean its collapsed in on itself or isn’t known anymore. It still is one of the most played retro formats

No format has ever fallen off quite like Goat. 🐑 Somehow in the span of 2-3 years a 20 year old format known for its variety and diversity became the most boring solved format of all time, with one deck CLEARLY dominant above all others.
