@MrMatthewTodd labour calls a byelection it didn't need to call to allow an already elected labour politician to contest the labour leadership mid term with a westminster majority of 167, which if he wins will cause another election that could Let Reform In, and it's this other party's fault?

@EvanCull @ejhchess the labour party have chosen to hold a by-election in a seat they already held. why is it then the Greens fault if this leads to a reform win??

@ejhchess I don't think the Greens standing will let the labour guy in, there is every chance it will let the Reform guy in, so the question is what would Green voters do in that instance.

If a party aspires to be in government, *of course* they should stand in every seat they can. If their sympathisers in the seat want to say not this time, we want to put the Labour guy in, good luck to them! But the Greens aren't a novelty party, nor an adjunct to Labour.

@james_e_b_ @keewa I dunno they could have tried tasing him. the downside of that is that it causes all your muscles to tense so any reasonable person would realise that they can't drop anything they're holdin- hold on, I'm finding out some new facts about the situation. ah. oh, I see.

@keewa Sorry this is just a fantastical position. He had just tried to kill two people. He'd been knocked over but was still in control of his weapon. Would you put your head or torso within arm's reach? What would you have done to disarm him?

@Jacob81660159 @atrupar converting just the fields that the US uses to grow corn that is turned into biofuel (not reducing food production at all) into solar farms would, on a cloudy day, produce triple the US's energy needs.

@atrupar Batteries hold electricity they do not produce electricity, so solar would need to produce more energy than needed on a daily basis and enough excess to get through the night and cloudy days.

Once again he questions my credibility. I've said nothing libellous. Does he really want to go to court & argue that Clifford Chance don't advise clients in avoiding tax? Really? He made ca £4m pa doing it.

Zack Polanski and his partner called their narrowboat their “amazing home” for three years. He registered to vote there. If it was his main residence, council tax was due. None was paid. His team says he stayed there only “occasionally” - if true, there's a very big problem.

@Jimbobwalton12 @nw_nicholas @thecraftybeggar funny, isn't it, how that guy's job is to make sure corporations pay as little tax as possible but then cares about people paying tax only when it harms the left. weird. wonder what that's about.

@nw_nicholas @thecraftybeggar It's possible to be a supporter of what Polanski is doing AND to think the reporting is fair. Also, that author reported on Tice, and is accused of bias from all angles. Polanski should have paid tax, even if nobody else did.

Nigel Farage has committed prosecutable election offences with this video under the Representation of the People Act 1983. The Act prohibits inducing voters through the threat of “temporal injury”, which includes material disadvantage such as the targeted imposition of government burdens. Threatening to specifically house illegal migrants in a constituency if it does not vote Reform is coercive and constitutes a criminal offence.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

people often complain that too many people/not everyone should be going to university, but the real problem is that, evidently, too many people have been encouraged to start businesses that simply shouldn’t exist.
iWalkOutdoors@iWalkOutdoors

Green Party say they plan to ensure everyone has a minimum wage of £31,000pa. I run a business. I don’t earn that. I employ 2 people. They don’t earn that. The business I run doesn’t take in enough to pay that. I’d need to charge customers way more to afford that 🤷‍♂️. Or go bust.

@PhilipProudfoot Police probably went overkill on their criticism, but its clearly a bad look for a political leader to be sharing a post that suggest kicking a knife wield terrorist was "too much". While the knife is in his hand, the police can do whatever they like until the knife is dropped.

This will not stand up legally. Zack retweeted — did not issue a statement — a questioning of the seemingly excessive use of force. The head of the Met, during purdah, wrote a two page attack as if Zack had said it. It is clear involvement in politics.
Beth Rigby@BethRigby

Mark Rowley on @SkyNews re his open letter to @ZackPolanski. “I'm not getting involved in politics. I'm dealing with operations. I need my officers to have confidence to tackle the most difficult and dangerous individuals. Of course, there's always going to be sort of, sort of eccentricity and nonsense online. “But if an eminent person steps into operational policing and, sort of criticises officers in a way that can undermine their confidence to act, I need to support that…. He has stepped into operational policing with his criticism & inaccuracies & I need to put that straight”

@caracus2k @HWestwoodP complex systems that keep our food supply running like, for example, petrochemicals traded through the strait of Hormuz. wow, so starmer (for example) definitely wouldn't, say, join an insane war of aggression against Iran that puts that at risk, right?

@HWestwoodP You're making a mistake coming (like many do) from a position of relative privilege . Things in the UK aren't great but we take for granted an awful lot of complex systems that keep things like our food supply running. The Greens will be far worse than what we have had before.

Legit. What's even funnier are the Temporarily Embarrassed Rich crawling out the woodwork to martyr themselves for CEOs. Guys, if you can't make a £10,000+ monthly take home work, you probably shouldn't be running a company in the first place.
jak 🎞️@todd_jak

the 10:1 thing is funny because the lowest amount any CEO could be on is like £250,000 a year which yes is an obscene amount of money for anyone, so everyone should get a fucking grip about it as a policy
