Five years ago, Layla’s Heart Ranch and Rescue came to life. Five years of fighting for the ones no one else would choose. Five years of love, heartbreak, and second chances. If there’s one thing this rescue has shown me…it’s that no dog is ever “bad.” Some are scared. Some were never taught. Some were simply failed by the people who were supposed to love them. Lately, with donations at an all time low, I’ve been trying to find more sustainable ways to support the rescue. And I realized I’ve been carrying so many of their stories inside of me. From the side of the road… to the ranch. Daisy Mae’s babies were found nursing, eyes still closed… pressed up against their mama where they had been dumped. And then… we lost her. They cried for her. They searched for her. And she wasn’t coming back. So every 3 hours… through the night… through exhaustion… it was bottles, syringes, and a promise— that they would not be next. And now… Look at them. Running. Playing. Thriving. Exactly how it should have always been. This is what love does. This is what rescue looks like.
