I was removing a urinary catheter from a dog today and the end just rebounded out and hit me full in the face…
I’m pretty sure some spunky wee ended up in my mouth.
Sometimes it’s all Supervet, sometimes it’s a urinary catheter to the face….

Love my RVT's and utilize their skills to the limits of their aptitude and training, but this is NOT a good idea.
FFS. @Walmart US is selling an unvalidated FIV/FeLV test for ppl to run on their cats. Complete with blood sampling supplies
The test's high quality materials indicate "organism anemia" and "loss of mental appetite" as signs to look out for.
What could possibly go wrong?
We had a kitten relinquished due to a humeral fracture and subsequently adopted by an employee so we used it as a teaching case... which means I did my first fracture repair as the primary surgeon today! 🤩🦴🔨
Feels especially good to be parked on my couch with a movie after trying to treat a fulminant tetanus case and watching the antitoxin freeze in the bottle while drawing it up at work today... Good luck to everyone else on call this weekend, this storm's brutal!
@MatthewKelsoDVM I actually think there may be something to this. I love fenbendazole and hand it out frequently when I can't quite figure out whats going on. Fenbendazole is a solid second next to Cerenia as my doctor version of coconut oil. I don't see any issues with using it long term.
Okay, #VetTwitter - do your thing. A client told me she wants to put her dog on daily low doses of fenbendazole to help prevent cancer (have taken off a spindle cell tumor previously). Anyone know if this is even a thing? I can’t imagine low dose FBZ hurting a dog if she does it
@drcatgang Had a client today, dealing with a large granulating wound, she had me totally upset with her, she just kept berating my staff and then me, usually I can manage the crazy. But today she can go…..She wants her records to go to the vet down the road… honestly I’m relieved.
Tonight I had an owner scream at me until the point I told her I would no longer tolerate her abuse and that she needed to leave, and had a separate owner throw their debit card at a front desk employee while cussing her out. Both were euthanasias, both abusive. I’m tired. #NOMV
@mgundarso@Mommallamavet “. We are at the intersection of emotion and money. The scarcity of the latter is whipping up the former.”
I am stealing this!!!
@Mommallamavet This one client does not negate all the good work you have done, all the animals whose live are better because of you, or all the clients who know you’re a great vet.
@Mommallamavet Board complaints are not as common as you think, and the board knows unreasonable whakadoo when they see it. A large part of cases they review result in no action at all. Be at peace, communicate as best you can, and document everything.
