Hard to say to what degree Ehrlich’s prophecy was responsible for the catastrophic decline in fertility across the West since 1970, though the graphs certainly align. I would certainly bet he had a measurable effect on the kind of educated, liberals who’d be watching this. Regardless, he should be utterly vilified for his counsel here and elsewhere, which was as close to sheer evil as anything you might be allowed to say on television.

Ehrlich in 1970: "The FCC should see to it that large families are always treated in negative light on television." If that doesn't work, then the government should "legislate the size of the family" and "throw you in jail if you have too many" kids.
