@Qeruiem @LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes You are actually right. But if/when a phone/battery can accept that kind of charging speed, then Apple would have need to come out with a more powerful cable. Yes, more money to Apple but bad for the consumer's financials and the nature.

@LeDavideFB @LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes Because neither of those really matters in a phone. For a computer, yes, probably also for an iPad (so you can run higher resolution on an external screen than 1080p), but a phone can't really charge very fast so there's no need for those 100-200 Watt charging speed anyway.

Say goodbye to the #Apple #Lightning cable.
🇪🇺 has just passed a law making USB-C mandatory for future smartphones & tablets. No more expensive proprietary cables from Apple.
As 🇪🇺 is world's regulatory superpower, this almost certainly means lightning will disappear in 🇺🇸 also

@Qeruiem @LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes Lightning is way slower than USB C both in Charging Power and Data Transmission speeds. Can't see how it can be a superior cable.
English

@LeDavideFB @LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes All other USB connectors but type C are already deprecated since 2017 by the USB consortium so hopefully this will speed up the shift.
That said, I’ll be sad to see Lightning go because for phones I find it superior. On the other hand I almost only use wireless these days.

@LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes Why don't we have 27 different electric sockets in EU? Was that decision to make it all the same was also an over reach? Not patronising at all. It's self explanatory...
English

@LeDavideFB @DaveKeating @Jesakijes Thanks for patronising…states - or even worse -super national organisations should stay out of this entirely. It’s an example of EU overreach
English

@LadefogedNiels @DaveKeating @Jesakijes This is related to the current technology and what is out there. If a better alternative appears in the market, EU could adopt it and apply it for all devices. It is funny to see that this needs to be explained...
English

@DaveKeating @Jesakijes So no more innovation in cables and chargers…”regulatory superpower “ good grief, and they’re actually celebrating this?
