RJ can trade the rangers 2030/2031 first as part of trade for Bedard in the final two years of his deal. It’s all about finding players now and creating a war chest to get the BC boys in 4-5 years.

If you were hoping the Bedard deal would stop rumors surrounding him leaving, it unfortunately may do the opposite Bedard's 5 x $15M deal will take him directly to unrestricted free agency at the age of 25, where he can walk from Chicago and give a team 8 years of his prime

@redblue325 @Leegrasemann That’s not what he is saying at all. He is saying that the cap is soaring and he wants to sign his next deal in his prime with that higher cap. No doubt the Hawks have to make a bunch of progress but if he was putting them on a clock he would have signed a 3-4 year offer sheet.

@Leegrasemann I'll point out the obvious: it helps to have a strong relationship with the GM. At the same, Bedard is saying fix this mess or I'm gone in five years--and no one would blame him.
