This is actually a very humane solution. When I was a kid I got chased/bitten by a neighbors dog and it was immediately euthanized and the owner got a huge fine. He's training these dogs not to bark at/bite strangers in the road, and some stinging eyes is a good compromise.

Let’s flip the scenario for a moment. Imagine Iran killed Trump in the first 5 minutes of the war, established air superiority over the US mainland, wiped out the entire US Air Force, US Navy, killed half the Cabinet, flattened the US military industrial complex, then started building runways in Missouri to land Iranian troops without losing any casualties. Would you say it was a US victory if the US managed to keep the Panama Canal closed throughout this all?

We didn't get a forever war. You weren't drafted to die for Israel. Gas didn't go to $6 a gallon. We didn't put boots on the ground. We didn't get a flood of refugees. None of your predictions came true. And yet none of you will admit you were wrong.

The ceasefire terms appear to be a massive L for the US. Iran charging 2M per ship for passage through strait. If the terms hold past 2 weeks, We just fought a war to end freedom of navigation in the strait of Hormuz , in Irans favor.

What's actually happening here is the President has embraced the "mad man" theory and is trying to convince the Iranians that he's willing to do whatever to wipe them out in hopes of getting a deal. The failure is that the President, like so many others, doesn't actually appreciate that the Iranians are mad men who live in a fundamentally religious world where they really do believe they are to wipe out Israel and their citizens are expendable. But no, this is not an unhinged President. It's a man playing a role as a negotiation tactic. Unfortunately, the President is going to be backed into a corner of extreme options by doing this, or be mocked for TACO again.
