Detroit federal prosecutors recruited an actively using crack cocaine street addict who had been thrown out of other pain clinics in Detroit for the purpose of setting up the Dr. Raj Bothra Pain Center doctors to commit healthcare fraud and prescription drug crimes. They paid him $17,000 cash to wear a wire for 11 total pain clinic visits. He also had out-of-state domestic violence charges that prosecutors were evidently willing to drop if he cooperated.
