@JackPittBrooke It was the correct thing to do. When you make such a big change it’s surely logical that what follows is painful for a while. Let’s hope that the pain is temporary. COYS

The most anyone has said in public defending the decision to sack Daniel Levy last September, (without mentioning him by name of course.)

The Big Lebowski (1998) is a film where, on the surface, nothing really happens — no grand schemes, no shocking twists. It’s simply about a laid‑back guy, his eccentric world, and a string of bizarre encounters. Yet somehow, it’s endlessly funny, wonderfully strange, and unforgettable.

Today’s strong growth figures show the Government has the right economic plan. The choices I have made as Chancellor mean our economy is in a stronger position as we deal with the costs of the war in Iran. Now is not the time to put our economic stability at risk.

Not getting enough attention amid the Starmer soap opera: UK economy had strong start to the year: 0.6% growth in Q1. Month on month 0.3% in March alone. The UK economy is developing a habit of strong growth in Q1 then petering out. Look at last year. And 2024. Good chance this could happen again, especially with the baleful impact of Trump’s War on the global economy. Even so, 0.6% in Q1 is impressive.
