@Leeds376 @WinterSportsLaw @JayBilas Save it from becoming nothing more than just another semi professional sports league What makes college athletics special is that it’s not professional and offers value that professional sports do not

As @JayBilas correctly points out, there’s a lot of hypocrisy in college athletics right now. It’s only when athletes begin to get paid that it’s necessary to have a federal law to “save college sports.”

@WinterSportsLaw @JRbroadcaster @JayBilas I haven’t seen one person say that athletes should NOT get paid. Not a single soul has said that. But 2mm+ for a player is just not fun and clearly over the medium/long term benefits a select single-digit amount of schools and over compensates the athletes

You can absolutely criticize President Trump, I do it daily with the Iran war and our foreign relations. But if you read this as a college sports fan and your immediate response was anything but positive then you need to take a step away from the political ledge.

President Donald Trump's executive order regulating college sports: - College athletes can only play a maximum of 5 seasons in a 5-year window - Maximum of one transfer before graduation, otherwise, need to sit a full season - Schools that violate risk losing federal funding

@FoylesC @mfarrellsports It’s not going to stick. The 2025 House vs. NCAA settlement has already declared that the NCAA cannot limit transfers in any way, it’s a direct violation of anti-trust laws.

@mfarrellsports Well, since being a student is a prerequisite for being a college athlete, I think the 1 transfer will stick. Maybe Sen Tuberville has the right idea — 1 free transfer then must sit out a year for transfer after that?

Don’t be fooled, this Trump EO won’t change much. Lawsuits will increase. I’d love 5 for 5, not in love with the one transfer restriction which will be the sticking point and won’t be enforceable. It’s a step towards helping return HS recruiting and less portal reliance for sure but I don’t think it will be adhered to as much as people think. And it won’t stick.

@CFBChuckk No it’s pretty obvious. I’m not mad at college athetes for making money and being able to transfer.

@HecoxMichelle @heitner Not if it passes through congress either bipartisan support. This is one bill (thanks to Tommy Tuberville) that will actually get bipartisan support.

Glad to see President Trump take action to fix the broken transfer portal that’s ruining college sports. I introduced the Student-Athlete Act last week. My bill would make the EO permanent. College athletes should get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons and 1 free transfer. After that, if you transfer, you sit out a year. It’s simple. I look forward to my bill being brought to a vote soon.

President Trump’s executive order on college sports is below. Three key provisions: 1. Five years of total eligibility 2. Only “one” free transfer without sitting. 3. No players can return from pros. Goes into effect on 8/1. Common sense & solid: whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

@LandonTengwall Gen X wants shit like it used to be. You transfer - you sit out a year. Should keep it at 4 years eligibility. An added year is just corporations wanting to milk the system. Not all that money goes to the kids….
