Grenfell United statement: But after waiting nearly 10 years, our community cannot be expected to endure years more of delay. [Gov] must ensure courts are properly resourced so that any prosecutions are heard swiftly. Justice delayed any further would be unacceptable.

Police will build a £2m replica of some elements of Grenfell. This would be to assist the understanding of a jury, not for new fire testing or evidence

CPS/police would not answer question on extradition conversations with other territories, although likely to be a hurdle they have to cross - some suspects are based overseas, some have moved

... about court availability, given the scale of the investigation. It will be a judicial decision, but sounds quite likely that cases (assuming we get there) will not be heard all together. That means a long time in court

Offences being investigated include manslaughter, fraud, misconduct in public office, various health and safety offences. CPS initially said it would be hard to see trials starting before 2029, but rowed back on that a bit. Conversations already underway...

Grenfell criminal investigation update today: - Police on track to deliver charging files to CPS by Sept - CPS hopes to make decisions before 10th anniversary in June 2027. Arrests will follow that if they approve charges - 57 individuals and 20 orgs under suspiscion

Today we met with @SamanthaDixonMP ahead of tomorrow’s King’s Speech. The Remediation Bill is simply too little, too late. It won't make homes safe, protect leaseholders or speed up remediation any time soon. Labour is still failing to get a grip on the building safety crisis.

2.5 years since leaseholders fought for a Remediation Order, with a deadline of June 2024, work is yet to start ⬇️ Unsafe homes, enormous financial and mental harm, lives and life choices completely ruined. @UKLabour still light years away from getting anywhere close to a grip.

Repossessions happening already. 29 of 158 flats in our block. Banks can’t recover their loans. End leasehold like you promised FOR EVERYONE @mtpennycook or consequences for Labour & economy will be dire.

@marcusveniquis There is no point if you are just forcing more people into leasehold debt traps which ruin finances and lives. We need to make flat living attractive first. That means a mass shift to commonhold.

The dignity and courage of this family in asking questions on why he died is admirable and heartbreaking. But once again it’s normal people facing the tragic consequences of systemic failures. And once again it’s the bereaved who are thinking about how to save others.

8.5 years since Grenfell. As the Tower comes down, they want Grenfell out of sight, out of mind. We will not let that happen. Today we will gather at 6pm for a vigil to mark 8.5 years. Join us to pay your respects and demand justice.

1️⃣ year today since the "Remediation Acceleration Plan" announcement. The only "change" leaseholders have seen is a new Housing Secretary and Minister for Building Safety. @mhclg are still dragging their feet. @UKLabour are still far from keeping their manifesto promises.
