The biggest problem with youth sports is parents over rating their kids abilities. This is what leads to kids jumping from team to team in travel and thinking they are above rec leagues. Most mistake size and strength at a young age over skill.

Percentages make no sense for tipping. I go to a restaurant and order a $20 steak. Guy at the table next to me orders a $100 steak. If I tip $5 I’m considered a great tipper, but he’s expected to tip at least $20. Why? The server literally did the same amount of work!

He was not saying being worse than other kids who play rec only, rec only players cannot compete against travel ball players.

@simon_rosenblum @SGuisgond @Tom_Koehler34 At 10 you had to be good enough to make LL when I was growing up. It was a much better system. There would be a lower league for others. It’s important that kids realize the truth about their skill set. Not this current structure of pay to play.

@simon_rosenblum @SGuisgond @Tom_Koehler34 If your son is sitting the bench at LL no amount of travel ball will help him. You can find ways to keep your kid playing above average without travel ball as long as he has sufficient talent and athleticism. If not you are wasting time and money.

@wjeffpetty Don’t forget indoor leagues in the winter. 🥶 Arms are ground beef by 13 yo. What some parents don’t understand is the physical/mental hurdle that happens when moving to the big fields has on a kid. It’s almost better to not pitch in LL and start later. The kid is better off.

If your 10-year-old is burnt out… it’s not the game. It’s the schedule. It’s perfectly ok to play in the spring & when summer hits go swimming, golfing, tennis. Go to the beach! Be a kid! If you want pick it back up in fall. March 1 to November 1 baseball at 10 is dumb!

I predicted Joe Biden would drop out and I'm predicting Trump is stepping down before his term is up.
