@JLucroy20 I guess my point is when you have very few ABs to go off of, it’s probably way more difficult for pitchers and catchers to plan against hitters than it is for hitters to plan against pitchers!

No, not too much current data since it's still ST, but they can pull historical's from MLB/MILB guys and also what the hitters have done so far in tournament. As far as the Asian team's, I'd have to believe that they have someone scouting their games. They might even have access to all the data over there too.
I've been out for a few years but scouting information isn't that hard to come by.

Guarantee they both have notebooks, Cal’s from someone in Seattle and Wills from R&D in LA. It’s 2026, the info can be thrown together and sent digitally and prob doesn’t take too long either.
Also, not a ton of data to go off of since they all have relatively few AB’s right?

I guarantee you that Will Smith and Cal Raleigh have prepared. Some, if not all of the pitchers have done so as well. Also, Andy isn't calling pitches. It's more important that the players are prepared. These guys are pro's. They aren't winging it out there. How do I know this? Because, I did it in 2017. I called every pitch when I caught, and pitching coach let me do my thing. Here is an example. Both these catchers are smart and talented. World Series champ and amongst the best catchers in the game. Don't believe any media piece that says they aren't prepared. You would be greatly mistaken to believe that these two guys aren't ready in every way.

DR hitters will use their history off Skenes to prepare to face him. But a hitter with 2-3-400 ABs under his belt by the summer is different than a hitter with 40-50 ABs in March. I imagine Skenes will trust his strengths and maybe have a few guys he wants to stay away from a certain pitch rather than trying to figure out holes with not a lot of this years data to go off of.

@redturn2 I did read somewhere that Skenes has faced most of DR’s lineup already except Tatis and another player I don’t remember. How different is obtaining that data and videos for a national team versus mlb teams who have all that on iPads in the dugouts each game?

Question for the “parity” people who are pro salary cap in #MLB. Do you implement the cap and then wait for all the (dodgers) deferrals to expire before you start seeing if the cap works for parity? Do you not think this gives them an even bigger advantage over the next 5-10 years?

@redturn2 JT- deferred salary is counted against the cap in the season that it's earned, not the year that it's paid. Obv, there has to be a phase in, and the notion that MLB goes directly to a hard cap is just off base. There are all sorts of caps, not all of em hard hats.

@redturn2 @rickypramos Sorry, I misunderstood. I haven’t seen a proposed cap structure. I can only assume that if there is a cap, there will be some type of grace period and/or grandfathered clause for existing contracts. I’m anxious to see the details.
