This week we’re diving into the wild story of Donald Howard, the man behind Accelerated Christian Education, the curriculum that tried to teach generations of kids that dinosaurs and humans hung out together like it was a prehistoric group project. legacyofabuse.com/cubicles-for-c…

This is not our regular programming. It’s unedited conversations about our personal lives, the world, and whatever else is begging to be discussed after dark. We love you. So we’re trusting you with the unfiltered version of us.

We have news. It’s exciting. And it probably should’ve stayed in the group chat. LOA After Dark is launching on Patreon in February. This is what happens when you take the filters off, the mics stay on, and we stop pretending we don’t have opinions about things.

John Olubobokun, a former director of a private Christian school in Canada, has been found guilty of nine counts of assault with a weapon, following shocking revelations that he used a wooden paddle to discipline students. Olubobokun, who is of Nigerian descent, worked at the Saskatoon-based Christian Centre Academy—later renamed Legacy Christian Academy—between 2003 and 2007. In Nigeria, corporal punishment with paddles is common, but Canadian law bans such practices in schools. The court heard disturbing testimonies from nine former students, describing how they were forced to bend over desks and repeatedly struck. Some were left bruised, while one victim recounted how the paddle broke mid-punishment. The courtroom erupted in tears of relief as the verdict was delivered, with survivors calling the decision “healing and validating.” Prosecutors argued that using a wooden object negated any defence under Canada’s Section 43 law, which allows only reasonable and non-injurious correction by teachers or parents. Olubobokun now awaits sentencing, as many former students view the verdict as justice long overdue. Do you believe corporal punishment belongs in modern schools? Reposting because @SKGov still funds this horseshit. Every single QIS school I dug into over the last 4 years lies on their website, and bends some part of the barely there regulations. The gov didn’t even bother to check if either of these schools principal’s had an education degree, which is in the Sk Gov’s own regulations, before handing over our tax dollars to them. #legacyofabuse

Here’s what I don’t like, fundy QIS schools blatantly lying on their website. Here’s Prarie Christian Academy. They advertise 12:1 student-teacher ratio. Here’s a list of the “teachers” from 2021-2022 school year. Only 2 have the ability to register with SPTRB.🧵

He was found guilty on all 9 counts today. Huge win for everyone today. “I don’t believe Mr. Olubobokun’s testimony,” Judge Lisa Watson concluded after reading her decision in a packed Saskatoon provincial courtroom on Monday afternoon. #legacyofabuse thestarphoenix.com/news/local-new…

Huge thank you to everyone near and far who’s supported us. It’s been a long road, but today was a win for ALL former students who had to endure John Olubobokun at either of the gov-funded schools he ran in Saskatchewan, Christian Centre Academy and Grace Christian School. #legacyofabuse

For context, b/c people like this exist, here’s some of the reasons my classmates & I were assaulted as children by a grown man (Director of our school) w/ a weapon: 1. Dying hair black & being accused of going goth. 2. Watching the movie Anger Management 3. Telling the Director to leave the hospital room when a student was admitted to hospital. 4. Telling church/school leadership about sexual abuse. We weren’t “misbehaving”. This man is an abuser. The church/school/government facilitated an environment for abusers to run rampant. #sask #legacyofabuse
