Ridon files probe vs PGMN disinformation ops, backs Speaker Dy’s anti-fake news drive, flags possible tax violations Rep. Terry L. Ridon on Monday filed House Resolution No. 980 directing a congressional inquiry into alleged disinformation operations of Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN), while also calling for closer scrutiny of its tax compliance and possible tax evasion, in support of Speaker Faustino Dy III’s ongoing campaign against fake news. Ridon said the resolution directly supports the Speaker’s call to confront fake news, but goes further by targeting the structure, operations, and financial accountability of entities engaged in organized disinformation. “This is in full support of the Speaker’s fight against fake news—but we must go beyond content and examine the operations behind it, including how these are funded and whether they are compliant with tax laws,” Ridon said. The lawmaker stressed that the inquiry will not only address misleading content, but also the business and financial activities of those behind such operations, including owners, partners, and affiliated entities. “If these disinformation operations are monetized—and there are strong indications that they are—then the question is simple: are they properly declared, taxed, and regulated?” he said. “Otherwise, this raises serious concerns of tax evasion.” The resolution cites viral content attributed to PGMN showing a supposed surge in electricity bills, which upon closer examination featured different Customer Account Numbers (CANs)—raising serious concerns of deliberate misrepresentation. “For ordinary Filipino households already burdened by high electricity costs, this is not just irresponsible—it is deceptive,” Ridon said. “Real issues should not be exploited through fabricated or misleading content.” Ridon emphasized that the inquiry will also determine whether such activities form part of organized and systematic disinformation operations designed to manipulate public perception on critical national issues. The resolution calls for coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and other relevant agencies to determine possible violations of law, including those relating to disinformation, unlawful business practices, and tax compliance. “We will not allow legitimate public concerns to be weaponized by disinformation networks,” Ridon said. “This is about protecting the public—not only from fake news, but from coordinated operations that exploit real issues for influence, profit, or manipulation.” The resolution is expected to be referred to the House Committee on Public Information for appropriate action.

⚠️ WALANG PULITIKA SA WARRANT NI JAY SONZA DDS Mark Tolentino, lawyer of Jay Sonza, and DDS bloggers are spreading fake news and unfounded accusations against the Judge handling the criminal case of Jay Sonza. Sabi ng mga DDS, intentional and malicious daw yung ginawa ng Judge na “non-bailable” yung warrant of arrest against Jay Sonza. Namumulitika daw si Judge dahil gusto ma promote to higher positions kaya sumisipsip kay BBM. FALSE. Hindi si Judge ang naglagay na non-bailable ang warrant. The warrant of arrest is AUTOMATICALLY system-generated based on certain inputs encoded in the eWarrant system. Because the Prosecution gave a recommendation that bail was not required, there was no amount of bail encoded or inputted in the eWarrant system thus the system automatically reflected “Not Bailable” in the eWarrant. Walang kinalaman ang Judge dyan. The eWarrant system was demonstrated in open court proving the above situation was possible. Thus, the warrant of arrest saying non-bailable is not intentional or malicious on the part of the Judge. Further aggravating the fake accusations against the Judge, DDS lawyer Mark Tolentino is grandstanding and ranting on social media about political harassment but actually he is the one to blame for the prolonged detention of Jay Sonza. He did not file urgent motions and entry of appearance as early as Saturday morning when he could have posted bail because contrary to popular knowledge, may Saturday duty for posting bail sa Pasay RTC.
