@Pirat_Nation 14th generation was truly like bulldozer; hot, power hungry, slower than the competition, however really good at overclocking to world records.
English

Intel's Core i9-14900KF has set a new all-time CPU frequency world record at 9.206 GHz.
The record was achieved by Chinese extreme overclocker wytiwx and validated on HWBOT.
The run used liquid helium cooling on an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard, with only the performance cores active during the single-core validation in CPU-Z.
This breaks the previous record of approximately 9.13 GHz on the same processor family and marks the first time any CPU has officially crossed the 9.2 GHz mark.
For context, the chip’s stock maximum turbo frequency is around 6 GHz.

Best Buy sent real emails to many customers this week stating that physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-ordered from May 18 to May 21, 2026, and the game will release on November 19, 2026
Many people received the same email and shared pictures and videos as proof. Best Buy sent it to frequent shoppers and retail partners, and it included new GTA 6 images.
Sony also emailed PlayStation 4 players urging them to buy a PlayStation 5 to be ready for GTA 6 on launch day.
Take-Two, the company that owns Rockstar, has a major financial report on May 21.

@GiggleWattzz @litteralyme0 @SpaceX @NASA Their missions have different requirements from one another.
English

@litteralyme0 @SpaceX maybe but not @NASA. They are still a decade away from trying to land rockets or catch boosters.

@dictator_jii I hate how YouTube's been cracking down on video to mp3/mp4 sites, it's been a struggle trying to find good sites that haven't been taken down 😭

According to Valve’s Steam Hardware & Software Survey for April 2026, 67.74% of Steam users run Windows 11
>Windows 11 64-bit: 67.74% (+0.89% from March)
>Windows 10 64-bit: 25.63% (+0.27% from March)
>Total Windows: 93.47% (+1.14% from March)
>Windows 7 64-bit: 0.07%
>Linux: 4.52% (-0.81% from March)
>macOS: ~2.01%
The survey is based on opt-in data from millions of Steam users each month

@Mindocontrole @Pirat_Nation How steam collects data is not necessarily the best way, it will sometimes repeat certain users and ignore others.

@Pirat_Nation Fanboys: THIS IS THE YEAR OF LINUX!
Reality: Windows +1.14%

@chorx @Pirat_Nation It has always had HDMI 2.1 support; the issue was legal in nature, not a technical problem.
English

Good news for Linux users with AMD GPUs: Full HDMI 2.1 support is on the way.
AMD engineer Harry Wentland has submitted initial kernel patches implementing HDMI Fixed Rate Link (FRL), which provides the full 48 Gbps bandwidth needed for high-refresh-rate modes like 4K at 120Hz.
This has been a long time coming due to licensing restrictions from the HDMI Forum. The patches include basic FRL functionality, with Display Stream Compression and additional features like VRR expected to follow.
Once merged, this will greatly improve Linux gaming and desktop use on modern TVs and high-end displays, especially for SteamOS and living room setups

@Pirat_Nation I’m believing in this as much as I believed in windows on arm: my expectations are through the floor and I’m waiting to see the disappointment that I expect.
English

Good news for Windows 11 gamers: Microsoft is quietly working on a major internal plan called “K2” to slash bloat, boost performance, and make the OS seriously competitive with SteamOS.
>SteamOS is now the official benchmark, Microsoft wants Windows 11 to deliver identical (or better) gaming performance on the exact same hardware
>Dramatically lower idle RAM usage and a much lighter overall OS footprint
>Heavy cuts to AI clutter and pre-installed junk
>Completely rebuilt Start menu, reportedly up to 60% faster
>A ton of other under-the-hood tweaks (faster File Explorer, snappier UI, fewer background processes, etc.)
The changes are probably due to make Windows look better on Project Helix and future handheld/Xbox PC hardware.
It finally feels like Microsoft is listening people, can’t believe it

@noop_dev @Noctua_at If you need more powerful ones buy from their industrial PPC line. When it comes to the price, that’s a trade-off for superior engineering and a good quality product.

Are you integrating Noctua fans into your engineering or other projects? We now offer public 3D CAD models of all our fans for download on our website, intended for mechanical design, renderings or animations: noctua.at/en/3d-cad-mode…

23 major news outlets, including The New York Times and USA Today, are now blocking the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine from saving copies of their articles.
They are doing this because they do not want AI companies to use the archived pages to train large language models.
This surely protects their content from scraping, it also limits public access to historical news records.
It makes it harder to track how stories change over time and preserving journalism
