@ICON2020FIN Thanks. I share that hope but vaccination is not required to enter Finland. In the end we‘re all scientists and can act in line with evidence - what about masks etc?

@Garrett_Neuro @cian_neuro @KordingLab @Datta_Lab Even if one sticks with the fano factor as a measure of variability, different levels of aggregation (sessions, neurons, animals) and changes in different metrics (mean, var [unless perfect poisson]) can easily shape findings, I would argue.

in 2010 Churchland et al published a v nice paper showing reduced neural variability after stimulus onset, in macaques and cats (nature.com/articles/nn.25…) Has anyone seen this effect in mice? I ask bc we kinda see opposite effect in 2 mouse datasets (admittedly using diff stats)
