As #plant26 dries out the more dust you see behind the planter the more digging you should be doing As planting conditions become less and less ideal through the weekend managing not only depth but downforce will become very important. Here you can see the planter set at the same depth but 20 additional pounds of downforce, for airbag planters that is only an additional 7-8psi. Both pictures are one pass apart, planter set at 2”. First picture is 100Lbs of downforce, notice the inconsistent depth placement and how the seed is laying is dryer soil, not tucked all the way into the furrow. The lack of a sidewall allowing dry soil to fall into the furrow with the seed, creating inconsistent depth and furrow moisture. Second picture shows 120lbs of downforce (40psi airbags). Seed placement is firmly into moisture and there is a visual sidewall. The difference in 20 pounds of more downforce? The disc openers are firming the furrow sidewall enough to allow the seed to fall into the bottom of the furrow before dry soil falls in over the top. The result? More even germination and emergence. Seed planted in the first picture runs a high risk of delayed germination or completely drying out given the forecasted heat and wind.

Everyone always says this feels like “x” really bad year. But this year is starting to feel like KS 2012 again with all this early heat. Hey cattle guys can at least have cheap silage.

Neighbors can't even help neighbors without county govt threats anymore. Volunteer firefighter Cody Royer grabs a county excavator (with permission, key in it) to clear tornado wreckage in Plevna, KS. Nobody hurt. Then some thin-skinned county bureaucrat claims the excavator 'threatened her life' and calls 911 with BS. Reno County DA Thomas Stanton sits on it for 3 MONTHS before slapping felony aggravated assault with deadly weapon charges to cover for his buddy. Stupidest prosecution ever, pure cover-up corruption, just like the officials who failed LA County during the wildfires. Punish heroes? This is why people hate government. youtu.be/ZXdbYyJWr0A

@591actual @twotthree64 Never trust a politician. Taxes go up they don’t go down, wait that sounds a lot like farm input prices as well…

@twotthree64 Kansas did this and they just raised property tax to cover the difference then brought income tax back. Guess what property taxes didn’t do after that.
