Transparency: I voted for 4 amended by +Blackburn because without a precedent we have to learn by forming the ind. NST, working towards 4 with that learning in wider rollout. Not a delay but a measured rollout to ensure we don’t reduce the safety in our parishes in the meantime.

A much more theologically astute friend sent me a DM wondering why the bishop of another diocese, and in my own case, the Metropolitan of another province, is writing an ad clerum to all the licensed ministers of @churchofengland & why diocesan bishops are aiding its dissemination…? We are not a Papal church, nor are we a corporation or company with a board of directors or a coterie of senior leaders. We are a church in which each of us are only asked to have allegiance, in all things lawful and honest, to our diocesan and to share in their ministry. The writing of an ad clerum to the entire body of licensed ministers, lay as well as ordained, indicates just how much our ecclesiology has changed without any real discussion, but simply as a cultural fait accompli of the last 10 years. This corporatisation of episcopacy has made the church much more hierarchical than in many periods of our history. Birthday today and weirdly comforted to no longer be a prime number age but instead an age which is divisible by many numbers. I cannot explain why this is of comfort. Anyhow, lovely new daily project for the New Year ahead.

Grateful to @thetimes for this, but it’s not entirely correct. One of the present issues (cf Sentamu letter to +Newcastle) is that the two provinces aren’t being seen as separate, and that AbY is being seen as the “northern mate”. This is wrong.

Another year, another disappointment as @CostaCoffee has apparently run out of the Maple Hazel syrup... It looks so good but I've never had the opportunity to try it as every time I go to a Costa and see it advertised I'm told they've run out. Same as happened last year!

@LeeBraganza Two weeks to go and then one week off here... except having spent the whole weekend exhausted to the point of nausea and literally crying because I was too tired not to, I am having an extra day off. Hoping it'll be enough to get me through the rest of this awful term.

We've done nothing this weekend and I'm exhausted. The one thing that's going to get me through the rest of this term is the glorious two week half term coming up.
