@OnlyAsinine @LargestCheese1 Sometimes the parties are more different ideologically, but atm yeah. People on the left/liberals in the South vote LD, and in the North/London they vote Labour (sometimes tactically). Richer people are more LD, and minorities are more Labour.

@LargestCheese1 @OnlyAsinine This and the comment I was replying to sum it up. The biggest difference is demographics tbh. In the suburbs of Manchester where I live, LDs have 2 MPs, while the inner city is all Labour.

@blimak_ @OnlyAsinine I'd add that trade unions still largely support Labour, and only the LDs would form coalitions with the Tories. There are few policy differences, except maybe the LDs being pro-electoral reform and pro-EU and more socially liberal (drugs and Palestine come to mind)

@OnlyAsinine i would say rn the biggest difference is who votes for them - LDs mostly affluent suburban + rural areas, labour more deprived + urban. LDs are also more pro EU, favouring rejoin ASAP. ig philosophically one is socialist, one is liberal, but the distinction is subtle these days
