- You: "My stocks went up 10%." - Government: "Congratulations! That's taxable." - You: "But inflation was 8%. I only really gained 2%." - Government: "We tax the full 10%." - You: "You tax the inflation you created?" - Government: "Capital gains are capital gains." - You: "So you profit from debasing my money twice?" - Government: "You're not an economist."

Its of note that Australia’s M3 money supply has grown from around $11 billion in 1966 to around $3.3 trillion today. Over the same period, the purchasing power of one Australian dollar has fallen dramatically. While inflation is also influenced by factors such as productivity, energy prices, taxes, supply shocks and population growth, sustained expansion of the money supply has primarily been the long-run contributor. The two charts tell the story: as the quantity of money has expanded over the decades, the purchasing power of each dollar has steeply declined. One shows the amount of money increasing; the other shows what each dollar can buy decreasing. Together, they illustrate why economists say that creating more money faster than the economy grows will reduce the value of each individual dollar.

Australian drivers to be hit with a road user charge after already paying for registration & paying taxes to build the roads. LABOR will charge you for simply breathing soon. At this point if you support Labor or the Greens, you are clinically insane or are just as corrupt as them.

Japan is Japanese because it’s full of Japanese people. China is Chinese because it’s full of Chinese people. According to lefties, Australia is ‘Australian’ no matter how many Indians replace the original population.

Labor is now being invited to do what every older Australian was told would never happen: drag the family home into the pension means test. The proposal being pushed would exclude only the first $500,000 of owner-occupied home equity, then count the value above that against the Age Pension. In plain English, the home older Australians worked their whole lives to pay off would no longer be treated as protected. It would become a balance-sheet asset for Canberra to measure, taper and punish. That is a direct attack on the Australian retirement bargain. Work hard, pay tax, buy a modest home, maintain it for decades, then reach retirement and be told you are too “wealthy” for the full pension because land values exploded around you through no fault of your own. In Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and even ordinary regional towns, $500,000 is not luxury. It is not harbourfront wealth. It is not some millionaire loophole. It is the new floor created by years of inflation, population pressure, planning failure and government policy that blew up house prices while wages were left behind. The family home should be off limits. Once Canberra starts counting the roof over your head as pension wealth, the next step is obvious: smaller pension, forced debt, reverse mortgage pressure, estate recovery and older Australians pushed to borrow against the home they already paid for. Jim Chalmers and Anthony Albanese need to rule this out completely, not hide behind “modelling,” “fairness” and “intergenerational equity.” Pensioners are not the enemy. Older Australians with a backyard are not a budget problem. They are people who paid into this country for decades and deserve security, not another Labor raid dressed up as reform. Labor already taxes your income, your fuel, your super, your savings, your investments and your death through every indirect charge it can find. Now the political class is eyeing the family home because it cannot control its own spending. Hands off the home. Subscribe: theyarn.xyz

The end of jobs will be a good thing. Most jobs are bullshit, the tech tree is finite, and AI will find all the tech on the branches we actually care about. Humans should get back to exploration and adventure. The idea that replying to emails all day on a screen or fixing someone's toilet or laying bricks is somehow the purpose of life is beyond retarded. It's just a thing you do to fill in some time for some tokens that used to buy you things (and now increasingly don't), and you create a narrative after the fact to justify it. If you were rich you'd look at it with a strange mix of both pride and pity. Humanity must ascend beyond this bullshit paradigm of your job being your worth.
CL@CL207

likewise, having a job / work / career may have been a fluke in a moment of time this whole job thing was something we all never had more than ~100 years ago, the elites has found a way to outsource our arms and brains, robotics and ai will probably take it all back

People who are smart usually only reveal information to people they think are deserving of it, so to most others dumber than them they probably look retarded or very average. There is an interesting analogy here with AI: Current AI is an amplifier of intelligence rather than a replacement, so if you are retarded the AI will not be very useful to you - it won't reveal insights you're not capable of understanding; just like smart humans talking to dumb humans don't.
Christopher C. Smith@christophcsmith

You usually won't find smart, perceptive people bragging about being smart. Instead, they play little "recognition games" with each other. They smuggle clever Easter eggs into conversations and watch who "gets it." This provides an unfakeable signal of who is at least their peer.

Foreigners should not be allowed to purchase Australian property. The fact this is allowed is insane. We pay taxes to be citizens and expect a basic level of service, infrastructure , housing, jobs etc in exchange, but instead the government just gives it all away to foreigners and those same foreigners want to tell us how to live.
Brian Lui@brianluidog

People say Australian housing is expensive. But my experience was different. We moved from Hong Kong and rolled over the HK apartment equity into a Sydney apartment of the same price. THREE TIMES as large, better insulation, better location, wow. Australians complain because they want a suburban house, because they like spending every weekend lacquering their porch instead of spending time with their kids. Very hard to understand, but it's a mass psychosis kind of thing here.

We are one people. One culture. That is literally what a nation is supposed to be. Tribal, under one flag, with one common set of values, rule of law, and, at least previously, religion. I.e. monoculturalism. Flooding the country with infinity immigrants, ie multiculturalism, is how you end up back at monoculturalism too, but this time with a culture you don't like. Because all these immigrants know the truth that Westerners have long forgotten - the strongest tribe wins. The rule of law is downstream of who holds power. Once you import too many people, there is no binding force between them, and they start electing themselves into positions of power through sheer force of numbers. Then before you know it, half your politicians are supporting strange causes from strange lands, once that don't represent the country you were born in. Indeed, by that point, your country has ceased to exist. All under the guise of a 'democracy'.

I'm really curious to see what effect the attacks against Pauline Hanson have based on her "monoculture" commentary. Particularly if there is polling done of migrants on this issue.

Who really runs the West? The people deserve answers as to why there is a global, coordinated push to ruin their native countries with the same bullshit policies that destroy freedom and liberty. You'd have to be a moron at this point to think the PMs of these countries are the ones calling the shots. The rot runs far deeper than that.

We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.

#BREAKING Reserve Bank officials have directly linked mass migration to the housing affordability crisis and fear the disastrous budget will only push prices higher. The RBA’s policy experts were critical of Albanese’s policies such as Labor’s Help to Buy share equity initiative and an expansion of a scheme allowing people, including non Australian citizens, to buy a house with a 5 per cent deposit. Net migration was running at record highs last term and has gone even higher this term with a record breaking 96,110 people permanently migrating to Australia in February this year, alone. That is 3,433 people a day. Asked about the RBA fears, Housing Minister Clare O’Neill, apparently detached from reality said, “this Labor government is unarguably the most ambitious on housing in 70 years” She then bragged that the Government “supported” 420,000 new homes. At 96,110 people arriving per month, that number won’t even scratch the surface. Not to mention the clogged roads. It now takes an hour to drive 5km in some parts of Sydney.

You haven’t seen anything yet. This is the warm up. Rates will be suppressed through yield curve control. The money printer will go into overdrive, and inflation will return with a vengeance. When that happens, people won’t just exit dollars and Treasuries. They’ll move into anything they believe can preserve value. Anthony Albanese is leaning towards offering only “narrow” concessions to his new capital gains tax regime for start-ups in the tech sector, as business groups and some Labor MPs push for broader compromises to protect entrepreneurs across the economy from being hit with punitive tax bills.
